I don't get people that complain about Stann's past getting "shoved down their throa

Nationalism and patriotism actually keep people together when shit is falling apart. But you come from an era where academics who failed to provide any solutions in the beginning of the 20th century still repeat the same mantra's today.

do you think nationalism and patriotism are the same thing? they're not. it makes sense that this whole issue would confuse you, if you never learned the difference between those two words.

and your 2nd sentence makes no sense whatsoever, just an FYI. i have no idea what my great grandfather's university professor has do to with anything

Why engage now? Read the thread, it's gone baby, gone.

It's 2013 almost.

You can trade without killing everyone in a country. But you already knew that. Then again did we all go over there to trade or for other reasons...

lol at trade.

Yea i wonder if America policing the world has something to do with asshole countries behaving and not disrupting free trade. You need to spend some time living on the border of said dirtbag countries. And millions? :/ Serious?

lol at trade indeed. Funny man right here

Sorry buddy, you wasted your lifelesson, i don't think they are the same thing.I don't even doubt that it makes little sense to you. I suggest the recent flick by Stone, history is a lot more fun when it fits your views.

Nationalism AND patriotism where absolute sins in the eyes of academics in the thirties in Europe as well as England. It took Churchill plenty of effort to help them understand the same ideas the left professes today, did not work.

Amusing to see how defensive you get. I am sure you believe yourself to be an individual and an independent thinker ^^

A real original.

i'm not defensive, i'm trying to understand your point of view. YOU'RE getting defensive.

you say they're not the same thing, but you're lumping them together. here is your quote: "Nationalism and patriotism actually keep people together when shit is falling apart" and you did it again just now, "Nationalism AND patriotism where absolute sins in the eyes of academics". it stands to reason i would assume you think they are synonyms. they're not. you say you don't know this, but your posts tell me you don't.

don't get mad at me because you aren't saying what you want to say clearly, and then claim i'm defensive because i ask you to clarify.

and yes, i think it's cute that you're going back to the 30's to justify whatever it is you're trying to justify.

PS the 30's were not "the beginning of the 20th century".
