I am very satisfied with Colby vs Buckley & Garry vs Shavkat

I feel like Colby should've gone with Ian back when/if he had the choice. Seems like he's much more likely to lose via getting tagged up with leg kicks and what not vs him but if he loses to Buckley he's going to have taken some bigger bombs to the brain instead.
I was thinking about this just now, If colby said ian wasn't big enough of a name why the hell is he fighting buckley?

Kinda does make it look like he ducked him, however this fight was made on short notice so colby was given great incentive ($) to take this fight

Can't wait for Buckley to fraud check Colby. People are weirdly hypercritical of him for his early career, but he's fixed so many holes in his game so far and turned into a complete fighter.

Yes but an youth an athelticism advantage is in buckleys court big time. Colby is now old and Despite what we believe about colby, because he fights infrequently we can't see his decline gradually.

One day he'll show up and his decline will be dramatic

That's a fair point. The other thing about fighting infrequently is that Colby might less shopworn since he's not constantly in camp trying to peak several times per year. When you get to a certain level of experience I don't think ring rust is as big of a factor skill wise, but more with physical ability. He doesn't strike me as the type like Paddy or DC who actively seek out obesity between fights.

We might see tippy toes Colby or we might see the same guy that has a motor that won't quit. Personally I think he's still got some time left but if he gets battered by Buckley then it's likely the beginning of the end.

I think Buckley kos Colby, I think Buckleys going to fight for belt in 2 fights and if Belal has the belt then Buckley has a real chance of winning that fight.

Shavkat is stylistic nighmare matchup for Buckley tho imo

Buckley has that power where he can take out anyone. Shavkat does seem like a bad matchup, but still Buckley has a chance. It would be a fun fight no matter who wins.

True, I was very disappointed with his performance vs Leon. Interesting to see how much he has left in the tank. If he loses, I would prefer him to go out on his shield instead of being as timid as he was vs Leon.

Slight correction on his age, he's 36 (37 in feb), so 6 years older than Buckley.

I was just about to edit that

Colby is now fighting an up and comer 30 years old, That's 6 years younger than colby.

Not quite a win in the Garry, Shavkat, Usman, Leon tier of win, but right below that, which wont get colby a title shot. but it puts him that 1 more fight away which is fair. Keeps colby out of the immediate title picture, Gives a young up and comer a chance to break through, forces Colby to fight someone younger than him not aging out of the sport.

Also Garry vs Shavkat is a better fight for number 1 contendership and honest to god, This is how the match making should have been in the first place.

Agreed with everything except

1 more fight away which is fair.
Is Colby really in a "one rebound fight, then ready for a title eliminator" territory? Man, that would kinda suck. Colby should be at LEAST one step behind Usman, who should be one step behind Leon. 4 of his last 7 fights were for a title. I feel like back in the day, we'd be shitting on such Faber/Holm-like privileges.

JDM is rumored to face off against Usman, and I'm not thrilled about that either, but the winner of that should be gunning for a title, and you've got Brady as well, who should be higher than Buck or Colby at this point, and by the time JDM-Usman winner gets a title shot, we're probably talking about Leon returning too, and you got the losers of Belal-Shavkat AND the next title fight. ALL of those should be in front of Colby, even with a Buckley win

Very winnable fight for Buckley. Why are people acting like Colby is some unstoppable juggernaut wrestler? At no point in his career has he shown this.

Dude's been living on his competitive fight with Usman forever
On the money sir!
Also Colby is inactive, 36, looked like shit in his last two and hasn't had a relevant win since 2017 against RDA

Buckley is going to win this and send his ass further down the rankings IMO

To be fair, Buckley should always come into the promotion as a welterweight, but he was too busy ducking The James Krause.

I don’t think you know what “fraud checked” means. Brandon Thatch losing to Benson Henderson is when “fraud checked” is correctly used. A former interim title holder/title challenger can’t get fraud checked.

Could get two satisfying finishes, or one, or two boring ass fights. I'm leaning towards the latter and hoping to be proven wrong.

Watch how triggered this place gets after Colby wrestlefucks him for 15 minutes.

Gonna be gold... watch.
It's actually 5 rounds since it's a main event which in reality favors Colby even more.

Buckley did look GOOD TDD-wise against Ruziboiev though that was trying to wrestlefuck him.

This ^^. Colby looked dreadful in his last fight and was sucking wind after the first round. Buckley will win via easy UD.

when is this fight tho? does Colby have time for a full fight camp for a five rounder?

I still think Garry vs Covington was very obviously the fight to make, and Colby Cheese ducked him like his life depended on it. Now that fight will likely never happen.

He actually stands a chance against Buckley, but it's a whatever fight. I'll allow it, but Garry vs Covington is a much more appropriate fight that either Garry vs Rakhmonov or Buckley vs Covington.
