I like how conservatives were in here spiking the ball the day after because Florida didn't literally disappear.

Meanwhile in reality property damage is in the billions, millions are still without power a week later, and they still don't know how many people may have died.

A week later?

lol…. Dumbass

It was a lot smaller than originally predicted. What does that have to do with conservatives?

I already said what it had to do with the conservatives in this thread in the post you quoted.

Stating facts? Isn't it a good thing that it wasn't as bad as predicted?

I don't think you guys had any facts to state within hours, the damage assessment is going to take weeks.

As if predicting the weather is anywhere near an exact science anyway.

Yeah this so called ‘Storm of the century’ didn’t deliver. All hyped up, pumped up headlines and fear.

Lieutenant Dan is proof, dude legit sat in his boat and said it got a little bumpy but nothing crazy.

The news is just a joke now. These folks are full of shit.

Castor didnt actually say everyone will die. Her message was a bit more direct. It was "if you choose to stay in one of those evacuation areas, you will die."

When asked if she was being too blunt she said:

“Well, wherever that storm surge comes, if it’s 10 to 15 feet, and people are trying to ride this out in single story structures, there’s no place to go,” the 63-year-old former cop said. “And once those winds get up to hurricane speed, there’s nobody to come and get you.”

Milton continued to barrel toward Florida’s Gulf Coast, expecting to make landfall sometime Wednesday evening in what could be one of the Sunshine State’s worst storms in a century. “The point of being blunt was to get everyone’s attention,” she said of her response to the Cat 4 monster. “This isn’t a drill.”

There is also something to be said for the uncertainty of what strength the storm would make landfall with.

As I stated earlier, with Andrew it wasnt that we were burned out with fear. It was that we didnt take it seriously enough. It wasnt a situation of "crying wolf" as others are suggesting, it was people saying "eh, there ain't gonna be any wolves" year after year.

I agree people have to have some will, and sacrifices may be needed. That being said suggesting that's ALL people need is just absurd, especially if they're dirt-@ss poor. They need job opportunities, they need places to live where they can access those opportunities, they need a lot of things to line up, many of which are in the hands of other people. It's not about someone flying in to rescue you, its about people thinking you're worth doing anything for to give you a chance. And in many cases, even if you repeatedly f*ck up. Being born with means just provides you all that infrastructure without the caveat of you needing to prove yourself to anyone.

No worries on the disagreement. A good chunk of my entire childhood memories, and some adult ones are down there. It's weird because I wish I could show my kids what it all looked like, but that's impossible because after Andrew the entire community changed completely. Best I could do was show them where my Mom lives. This was on Hollywood Beach, was a bit chilly that day:

I hope I'm wrong (not clicking on that) but did you just dox your kids in the war room?
