Crime Huffman to only get 14 days

I'm picking this comment randomly to drag you into the conversation because you seem to entertain conspiracies more than most.

Am I way off base thinking that Felicity Hoffman should be the tip of the iceberg in college admission corruption?

I took no side in this politically and still got @Leagon and @hillelslovak87 responding with "you're a moron and a jerk and GOP hates education". I can tell you they're both happy people whose dads did not abandon them.

You've been called a moron by multiple people because you're acting like a moron. Nobody is going to think well of you pinning a medal to your chest for being ignorant and apathetic. You then continue that trend in this post of yours. Commiserations for earning a portion of your username.

ACTUAL privilege, being showcased here, not the newspeak "privilege" the Commies are peddlin.

She should be picking up garbage along the highway, with everyone else involved right alongside her.

Would really bring these elitist fuckheads down to earth, where their shit stinks, too.

Meh. In other words she got away with it. Two weeks isn't going to deter anyone from doing this again. I personally would've liked to see more "outrage" at the Schools themselves. You can still get your kid in to any Ivy League school in the country if you're willing to pay for a new Wing. It's still rigged, all they've done is to increase the amount of the bribe.

Full disclosure: One of my kids goes to an Ivy league school and he got in because he had a 4.6 GPA, lot's of extra curriculars.... and TBH, very likely because he's Native American... I know, I know... I am actually not fond of the fact that race plays such a large role in admissions, but it is, what it is. Don't hate the player. Hate the game...

Length of sentence is less of a deterrent than public shame for most people.

Proof? Facts? Proper context?

Except y'know..when I posted the video of him saying exactly that.

I guess you have a different definition of "proof" than the rest of the world.

I'm cool with the 14 days. After all, her real punishment has been the public shaming.

This lady, at least seems to me, has taken responsibility for her actions.

She screwed up, but was willing to face the music.

I hope more stories like this comes to light. After all, the true "privilege" that is being showcased here is that wealthy people simply have more opportunities to get what they want compared to the average Joe.

Listening to NPR yesterday, they mentioned that their kid has a learning disability. Therfore, they felt justified is cheating on her behalf.

When I was in grad school, I remember getting into a minor argument with a classmate of mine. He was adamant that poor children are under diagnosed with learning disabilities. However, I think it is the other way around. I believe wealthy kids are over diagnosed with learning disabilities. After all, those kids' parents know that with a certain diagnosis, your child can receive untimed exams, no deadline for assignments, one-on-one tutoring, etc.

I assume that Huffman used her money to doctor shop to get a diagnosis for her kid that would remove obstacles for her. She is simply a high level Lawn Mower Parent.

Honestly, two weeks is going to feel like forever to her, and will teach her the lesson she needed. Not a big fan of using jail/prison as punishment in the first place, but this sounds about right. Now she'll have a fine and a record. Disparities with similar nonviolent cases are a separate issue, and obviously there's a problem with rich or white fraud being taken less seriously, but in of itself this is enough.

Lol at you thinking she is getting sent to a real penitentiary with small cells and strict routines. She'll be talking on the phone, browsing the internet, and taking hot baths during her sentence.

Show.

I think of her like the fall guy of this machine. Epsteins death closes the book on the trafficking/blackmail ring, this is the same thing.. imo.

OK and hear me out. But don't we have the right to see the academic credentials of people like Malia and Sasha Obama, Al Gore's kids and so on? Shouldn't there be an investigation into how David Hogg gets accepted to Harvard with grades far below average? Isn't that just as corrupt?
Apply that to Trump's taxes and all the details pertaining to government and foreign money finding it's way into his personal coffers.

She shouldn’t have gotten any jail time. Slap on the wrist is all it’s worth, at worst. As long as we have affirmative action and social justice admissions officers, I don’t fault parents for taking actions like this.

That said, her money probably would have been better spent elsewhere.

Jesus Christ some of you guys are always playing the victim. Affirmative action, social justice? Don't tell me, it leads to full blown socialism, next thing you know we're Venezuela.

I say that the schools and people responsible for taking these bribes are much bigger criminals here. They are the ones that should be punished.
In this case the school didn't take a bribe. She paid someone to fake her kid's SAT scores.

Yeah man, it’s all about combatting socialism. That’s why affirmative action sucks—it’s too damn socialist. Sick and tired of all these government programs that are designed to oppress the capitalists.

Stanford and other schools most certainly did accept money in exchange for listing some of these students as athletes in order to get those kids enrolled in their schools. That is all part of this scandal.
