It said she was wealthy and well connected. 14 days is alot for them. Kinda surprised she got anything at all.

She should’ve said she was a lobbyist and she wouldn’t have gotten a slap on the wrist

But.. has anyone got real time because of this? She wasnt the only one.

She doesn't have as much white privilege as Beto.

Of course with California's mentality and overcrowding, that probably means 2 days.

Should not be any incarceration for offenses like this tbh.

the main reason seems to be a cry of 'poorer people get worse and therefore...' which is a shitty reason. Fix the system for poor people to make it equal as the better option.

She has no priors and her crime had no mal'intent. It was a crime of selfish stupidity. A big mistake or error in judgement.

without any prior pattern of such mistakes or errors in judgement a big fine, lots of community service and maybe a PSA should do the job but I know you Yanks love your jails and think every offense is jail worthy.

Not yet? I feel like as people plead guilty the wagons will begin to circle and the the center piece might get real time... hopefully.... unless they're well connected...

Which they usually are.

How much does everyone who holds public office pay to get their kids into top universities? Or are we still pretending that coincidentally all their kids are the cream of the crop of students? Al Gore sent 4 kids to Harvard, and I'm not sure he's such a genetic marvel that he happened to shit out 4 consecutive kids who are all the pinnacle of excellence.

This bitch got 14 more days than everyone else who does the same thing.

Sorry, but did we ever get that investigation into how David Hogg got accepted to Harvard when before his grades weren't good enough for state schools in California?

Can we get access to the test scores and academic credentials of Obama's daughters to keep things fair.

Joe Kennedy never went to jail for this.

The schools are complicit in all of it anyway, not too concerned about individual moms getting sent to jail for it.

That USC leak showed the school actively cataloguing which students had rich/famous/donor family members so they could make sure they got admitted.

Exactly. If anyone should be in trouble, it should be the schools themselves, not people playing the system for their kids.

Cory Booker said it best.

You get treated better if you're guilty and rich than innocent and poor.

Or you are a progressive like him and Keith Ellison.

Reminder that Booker actually admitted to doing what Kavanaugh was falsely accused of. Groping a woman in high school and his defenders were those attacking Kavanaugh and saying he was unfit.

Some of the most astonishing hypocrisy ever seen in DC.

What about this? What about that?

Whataboutism, also known as whataboutery, is a variant of the tu quoque logical fallacy that attempts to discredit an opponent's position by charging them with hypocrisy without directly refuting or disproving their argument, which in the United States is particularly associated with Soviet and Russian propaganda.

Honestly, two weeks is going to feel like forever to her, and will teach her the lesson she needed. Not a big fan of using jail/prison as punishment in the first place, but this sounds about right. Now she'll have a fine and a record. Disparities with similar nonviolent cases are a separate issue, and obviously there's a problem with rich or white fraud being taken less seriously, but in of itself this is enough.

your point is a good one but not everyone has to pay whose kids otherwise would not make the cut. Not directly with cash anyway.

Many due to Political Connections or Societal position in other influential groups can see their kids accepted even if the grades would not cut it. There are a few privileges here that make the cut.

She's gonna pull an easy 1MIL to tell her story when she gets out.

The schools are complicit in all of it anyway, ...
are any of the schools facing Fines or other sanctions?

The people in admittance in the schools named should be hauled in front of a Congressional Committee and asked under oath to explain the full extent of this problem.

But ya, not going to happen as likely many Politicians have done similar things to get their kids in and if it blows up it will blow back.
