How would Dustin VS Illia play out?

IDK if Ilia has the ability to sub guys at the top level.. but he can KO guys.. that said.. Dustin only ever got TKO'ed by punches to the side of the head over the ear... Conor, Justin, and Michael... Ilia wins today Dustin is 36

It would look much like the Max Holloway fight.

Sorry but who is hugging whose nuts when you are in favor of Poirier potentially getting a 4TH TITLE SHOT (6TH if you count BMF) when he hasn't had back to back wins since Conor was on the roster?? LOL

I like Poirier just fine and think he's had a great career but I am not in favor of ANYONE getting that level of favoritism. I wasn't in favor of it when it happened with Urijah (who actually put win streaks together in his defense unlike Poirier) and I'm not in favor of it now.

Poirier is 2-0 against Max, has had 6 REMATCHES in recent years, and both occupy spots in the top 5 (Max in 2 divisions)... forgive me if I think this fight is pointless and that there were better options for both considering how starving for new contenders both FW and LW are.

Max just got KTFO by the 155 champ... Poirier said he's retiring... what is the point of this fight that will surely lay up Max until 2026 and will do nothing for Poirier win or lose?? "Duhhh they will bang bro" great... hope 5 rounds of further CTE is worth stalling the division some more...
How is it stalling the division if Max just got KO'd by the champ and Poirier is retiring? Neither guy is holding up anything & both are irrelevant to the title picture. Wtf 😂

They are holding up opportunities to give someone ranked below them.

A win over Max or Poirier would earn significant hype and put someone close to title contention.

Who? Arman who already got Dariush and Chalres before ruining his title shot? Dariush? Fiziev who already had his shots at Justin? Old man Hooker who Poirier already fought? Gamrot who lost to Hooker and Dariush already?

Which young contender needs their shot at Poirier or Max?

Awesome fight we wont get :( absolute barnburner while it lasts, it seems ilia has speed and timing we havent seen yet in the cage, Dustin's a dog but the extra precision gets it done imo.

I guess it's a matter of taste, but more questions would be answered about Holloway and where he stands at 155 in the future if he faced someone he didn't face twice(!) before and who is retiring.

There have been too many rematches at 155 in recent years, in my opinion.

If you disagree, it's fine.

High-ranked strikers coming off losses facing each other is a stereotypical LW-matchup 2020-2025.

I think Dustin V Topuria ends up with the former leaving the Octagon sporting a shattered mandible and concave face.

I would hope Dustin gets flatlined if that happens. He had a great career but he has WAY overstayed his welcome and I am sick of seeing his name on cards at this point.

The guy's 0-3 in title fights (0-4 if you count that BMF joke), has had 6 REMATCHES in recent years, and would be riding a whopping 1 fight win streak against a guy he'd have now beaten THREE TIMES... who would be the co-main event on that card? Cain vs Bigfoot Silva??

Nah, Dustin can GTFO win or lose against Holloway. I'd rather he avenge his loss and take Michael Johnson out of the UFC on this card than have everyone's time wasted with yet another pointless fight with Max. 2 top 5 ranked fighters do not need to be tied up in a pointless fight with zero title implications in a main event... LW and FW are too starved for new talent for this BS.

Out of ALL the fighters who have overstayed their welcome and refused to retire... You chose to hate on Dustin? What a weird take my guy. He has put on absolute barn burners basically the past decade, and other than the Islam fight, he had a decent chance to win every fight he lost. I get he doesn't deserve a title fight, but to hate on him for simply fighting is crazy.

Would be a great fight! You have to favor Ilia at this point, he's just got the speed, power and accuracy, very dangerous. We saw that someone like Islam can give Dustin problems with his boxing, you'd have to think a much higher skilled boxer does even better. I wouldn't count Dustin out here, but definitely favor Ilia.

Dustin gets knocked out. Illa is better everywhere .

He just had a dog fight with Islam.

13 months ago on the wrong side of 35 at lightweight, is not 'just had' IMO although I take your point.

I don't think Dustin has fallen off as much as some of these other old guys have, but yeah, he certainly had more pep in his step back then.

LW is kind of a wash at the moment outside of Ilia and Arman in my opinion. Paddy is an X factor I guess since he keeps winning, but I don't think he has much for Topuria. LW really needs new blood to break through

Topuria has absolutely murder KO'd three all-time fighters in succession in two weight divisions and he did it with complete impunity.

We are likely looking at one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time and already established as one of the best of his generation.

Nobody "has much for Topuria." So theres that lol

Holloway answered that question when he slept JG, a certified killer at LW that had never fought at FW unlike DP. DP just has Max's number imo. DP and JG are 1-1 I believe. I do agree they should give up and comers a chance when it's earned and imo they have. We seen Katter get boxed up by Holloway once upon a time, DP against BSD and JG even gave Fiziev his chance and denied him.

In his defense, he took that fight on 6 weeks notice after an absolute dog fight with BSD and stated he broken ribs going in against Islam. I just haven't seen anything to warrant he is actually passed his prime? A good showing with the #2 P4P guy doesn't show me he has lost a step yet
