It's interesting. His latest best mate Till is in the position I can see coming in to view for him. Can't make it to WW and not quite big enough to really compete at MW. I could be wrong. Whittaker became champion moving up from WW to MW - He doesn't LOOK small, so it's hard to say. But if Khamzat isn't a "natural MW" and doesn't walk around north of 200lb while still in the gym. He's not gonna be able to do the same stuff against these guys.

to me Whittaker's success at MW is because he's a fighter based on speed and timing and that got better going up because the guys aren't as fast mostly and he can outpace a lot of MWs. that's not the case for Khamzat and Till who both like to bully guys with their size and strength. i agree with HuskySamoan that top 10 is probably his ceiling and i think every year that passes with more and more up and coming fighters being signed sooner rather than later his chances of ever reaching championship fights or even the top 5 diminish. fighters are only getting bigger as he was when he entered UFC at WW. there's only so many years that go by before the older fighters get outsized by the younger ones and that's bad news for someone with his style.

For freestyle wrestling (against an unexperienced opponent) maybe, but that does not translate to MMA.

no it doesn't because MMA is not wrestling. i don't doubt he can win fights at MW, but i highly doubt he's going to be better at MW than he is at WW is what i'm saying. sure, he wrestled Hermansson, it's not like Jack has a style that can wear opponents down or that he's a particularly large MW.

i believe that it shows that Khamzat's wrestling will still be a factor at MW. that wrestling match was no camp no gameplan. mix that in with his one punch ko power and it shows that khamzat can do well at MW.
