Not sure. Seemed clear he was down, and it's not like he just got there. If Herb had clearly said "he's downed," then there should be no argument. Apparently, that's what happened with Yan-Sterling. But that's also what happens when you have a good ref, and not Herb.

I agree there was no question. Definitely from our angle. I think there's leeway given to fighters who may be tunnel visioned, but that should be no excuse. But to say "you foul, you get DQ'ed" is too absolute for me. I mean, a situation like that? Sure. But if you've got something like, you try to inside leg kick me when I rush forward, and you hit my nuts so hard I can't continue, that's not a DQ. Even if it was the second time it happened in the fight, that's a strict enforcement to keep. There HAS to be some grey for intentional/accidental.

A sees the argument: "Yan fouled Sterling. Yan got DQ'ed. I don't think that was right, and I'm mad at Sterling ... Now Edwards fouls Belal, but doesn't get DQ'ed? I feel like I should be mad at Edwards now, because that's how everyone treated the last fight." I can't say that's wrong to think.

B sees that argument as "This first situation happened with Sterling being the foulee, and I'm hating on Sterling. The second situation happened with Edwards being the fouler, and I'm hating on Edwards. Why do I hate the foulee the first time and the fouler the second? Let's think about what they have in common.."

If I was talking to some friend or family member, B wouldn't start becoming a suspicion in my mind. But when I'm on a forum that might still have a good amount of people thinking angels are real, evolution is fake, and colleges are turning people gay, yeah, I'm not giving them the benefit of the doubt.
