Sorry if this had been posted before, the search function here is terrible, however I did attempt it anyways. Also tried google, but didn't get any quality info.

So anyways, I was reading some old GSP interviews and he was talking about how one of his trainers won't let him have sex or even jerk off 6weeks prior to a fight. I remember reading about this from other fighters as well. So I was wondering is there any real science on this topic or is it just a superstition?

how sex affects you is more important than how sex affects training for everyone else. Studies are all over the place, as are personal accounts with both abstinence and indulgence. how do YOU feel you're training after a week without a night alone with your left hand?

your legs just isnt the time when you have sex before training or a match for that matter

it takes a lot of minerals and such to make those future doctors and lawyers. I can definitely feel a difference in training.

not doing it for 10 days must increase testorone??

Avoid it the night before, but go crazy during training, just don't be throwing her (or him, whatever applies to you) around the room for three hours.

last I heard the only thing worth mentioning is that testosterone is lower the day after ejaculation, and then climbs for the next week, so rule #1 do whatever feels right for you, and rule #1 if you don't know your own body, don't ejaculate the day before a big event

Bas Rutten once said on his old forum that you can get away with a shag as long as you don't make it an hour and a half sessions 3 times a day.

In 2003 I made a similar thread here on Sherdog and Gary Goodridge replied that he has sex before a fight to help him relax (Bas said the same in an interview last year).

One thing that some of you aren't looking at is that if you bang the missus shortly before bed it can send you to sleep in a flash. I'm the classic, '20 minutes after and I'm fast asleep' guy. Quite honestly, I blow my load and I'm asleep for hours, it's the perfect sleep aid and sleep/rest is key to recovery.

No more need for ZMA! haha.

I've read stuff that also says that a healthy sex life can increase testosterone overall, so it's very healthy, imo.

I wouldn't have sex within about 4 hours of training, that's my only real feeling on the issue.

"Research demonstrates that testosterone levels rise as a response to sexual stimuli. Therefore, an athlete could benefit pre-workout by being exposed pre-workout to sexual stimuli. The athlete could then exercise with increased testosterone levels and aggression. One hour post-exercise, the athlete should achieve ejaculation. This will increase the natural level of killer cells, thus increasing immune-system function and enhancing recovery abilities. The increase in killer cells will prevent over-training."

So basically get horny as fuck before training, but don't ejaculate till afterwards?

Ever tried to train with a boner? Peeing with a boner is more easy than that.

1 week without screwing often drives me crazy by the end of the week.
1 week without right hand ? wtf.

Weeks of nothing for the sake of anything is not a life.

But a could see myself abstaining a couple / few days for a competition though.

EDIT : Completeley off-topic but : JSn, I read your sig and I'm curious: does that refer to lobbies/financiers/diplomats or some kind of conspiracy theory/Illuminati-alike garbage ?

The biggest difference I notice is in need for sleep. I can ejaculate once every three to four days without it affecting me. Any more often than that, and I need extra sleep hours to recover. I keep up a constant training regime that if fairly strict, by the way (weights, HIIT training, MMA).
