Strength/Mass How many actual strength athletes are in your gym?

D

Did you end up hitting the 450lbs or is it calculated off your rep max?
Closing in on that 500lbs if it's an actual 1RM.

I think it was you who calculated my 1RM squat months ago after my 320 lbs ×11 reps squat I posted on Youtube. You said it was 475 pounds.

I never tested the real thing. I dont really care. I'm more fixated in exceeding my 225 pound power clean.

I tested my 6-rep max front squat though... It's 245 pounds. *shrug*

And it was with a narrow stance and was ATG. The front squat, I mean. Just no pause this time.

It was this thread and it was 445.

I will leave the squat video alone. I responded with my opinion in the thread you made.

My squat was to depth. Now leave it alone. Let's talk about something else please.

Just got to hit that number now. I reckon you actually do it easily.
I'm sure I can do it relatively easily right now. But even if I can't, I don't care.

I train for a super total. Even if my wide stance low bar squat gets neglected, I'm fine with that as long as my front squat strength and power clean strength goes up. And the way I see it, if my clean pulls and power clean numbers are going up, so is my deadlift.

What matters most to me is longevity and the ability to make PRs (big or small) every month, endlessly, on key lifts. And it's a big list. Low bar squat, front squat, clean pull, power clean, bent over row, bench press, push press, and pull up. I don't have to hyper-specialize in one of those. I spread out my attention.

I'm only gonna start paying attention to specific numbers on specific lifts when I'm in my forties pretending to be Master Roshi in the Masters Division in both powerlifting and Olympic lifting.

Until then, I'm the high-achieving womanizer gym bro of Crunch Fitness LLC.

And this really is reflective of what my hero, Doug Hepburn, did. He was told it wasn't enough for him to be just another Olympic gold medalist. If he truly wanted fame as the strongest man in the world, he had to be a gold medalist clean and presser who can also squat big weights, deadlift big weights, bench press big weights, crush tomato cans with his sheer grip strength, front lateral static hold a 100-pound dumbbell, and several more.

That's fine but you can't say your lift is a certain amount without lifting it. You don't have a 450 squat, you have a 320 squat or whatever you recently lifted if it's more. Nobody can be impressed by a squat you didn't do.

What you mentioned is a great way to train though for a general athlete/person.

For conversation not argument:

What's athletic about laying / standing still and lifting heavy?

It's a test of strength and you become stronger by doing it.

Strength... Is... Everything...

Not if you can't use it while moving.

People will become stronger in certain sport-specific movements if they train for them. But to build actual, general strength, you gotta stick to the classic/basic/foundational barbell movements.

Now if you wanna turn that general strength into a specialized kind of strength, that's where drills come in. Things like drilling yourself with wrestling takedowns, judo moves, shot put moves, et cetera.

Just remember that although the basic barbell movements won't immediately turn you into a super athlete, it will build that size and strength foundation that can potentially turn you into a super athlete.

Understandable. Just saw the title strength athlete and thought the topic was going to be about athletes with power. Continue on :)

I don't see a video in that thread. Post it again.

Also I just found out trough google that a Janitor is not the person who cleans the toilet. I legit thought a Janitor was a person who just cleans toilets. It's more like a Hausmeister in Germany. Actually Hausmeister don't clean. So Hybrid between cleaner and Hausmeister.

Germany does have jobs where someone just cleans a public toilet. Klofrau. Toilet woman 😂. Sorry for laughing.

So show me your squat boy. Before I elbow you to the dome and throw Maxes corpse to the dingos and yellow monster spiders in Australia.

I thought something was wrong with me, but you guys are still bitching and moaning in that thread you cited like you used to. I didn't read this one. So it's not me, you just some ole cranky dudes. I bet Maxes woman is bitching on him so he comes here and bitches on us. You gotta do this that na na na I wanna argue with you today.

Just keeping @Baby Hanma and @Trabaho honest on the internet. Last time it got you to hit your benchpress number you wanted.

Don't be making fun of someone's job. That man is aiming to be a Ninja Maintenance manager and we have never seen Batman and him in the same room...

First I'm going to

Max in the forehead. Than I will

His corpse.

Than the Dingos gonna get to eat the rest of the 173 pound smelly corpse.

You aren't going to hit me in the forehead if that's how you hold a pistol and shoot...
