How Long Before they Pull the Plug on ESPN+?

I'd just like to reemphasize how great these two posts were, back to back nontheless:

Well played.

ha ha thanks friend - been getting notifications of likes non-stop - was not expecting that

This place is fun

I hate how espn+ is not as functional as dvr was. There is no slow motion ability. The controls to fast forward rewind or play are not nearly as responsive.

On the bright side I love the details series with Daniel Cormier.

It will, and it's growing on an international scale too massively, they're always visiting new places and putting on events in new places all the time as they're reaching more demographics so lets say for argument sake it dies in the US (which it won't) the sport is continuously growing in so many places so it's not going to just end :)

Fans say this all the time about the things they love, it's as though they want them to fail or something, WWE fans do it all the time and have been since Hulk Hogan was telling Ultimate Warrior he was going to break him lol
Yeah very true buddy, totally agree. There is always threads about ''will Spike ditch UFC its failing'', will Fox ditch UFC its failing", "will ESPN ditch UFC its failing". so boring now. Its not failing at all, and I wonder if they are MMA fans and enjoy watching the sport, or just want it to fail always. so weird. It will only hurt us if it fails.

ESPN's current model confuses me, so I don't know. I think UFC will ride the waves of these Spike, Fox and ESPN co-labs before, eventually, setting up their own network like WWE did.

They should name it fightpass and have all sorts of other combat sports events on it too

Yeah, you see it all the time and there's no point arguing with them because they're adamant it is and they want it to also on a whole.

You hear it all the time and with everything also you'll see it within all fan bases, WWE fans say it about WWE, Simpsons fans say it about The Simpsons, UFC fans say it about UFC, it's everywhere and where as some of them may have declined UFC is definitely growing and specially on an international market.

In fact it's not even just UFC but MMA in general is, they've spoke about this also on UFC Now saying how the sport is still young and how it's growing and how the talent are now being recognised more than they were plus alongside the fact we know they're always going to new places for the first time and putting on big events so that tells us everything we need to know.

ESPN+ is about to get a huge boost in November.

By all accounts Disney+ is going to be a big success. The Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ discounted combined package will be pretty successful in my opinion.
This is gonna be one of the biggest and best parts of the deal for UFC. This will be a no brainier for most ppl as it will cover just about everything they watch

What polls? Unless you're including people who downloaded some apps on their phones, I think your stats incorrect or manipulated in some way.

Streaming has actually surpassed Pay TV in US Households (via Forbes)

~70% of all US households are paying for at least one streaming service, compared to ~65% paying for traditional TV subscriptions. These are 2018 statistics, so its going to be further along at this point in 2019.

If you look at young folks, its far more dramatic... ~88% pay for streaming services compared with 51% paid TV.

Anyone who purchased a TV in the last 5 years likely has smart TV functionality built it to work with streaming apps. If not, they still have Roku, XBox, Playstation, Android everything, Apple everything, Chromecast, Amazon Fire etc... that can stream to their TV and devices.

Its like $30 to buy a Chromecast, this is a solved problem.

DAZN too, for that matter. MMA audiences seem to be fading, not growing.
is that how you "feel"? i sometimes "feel" the earth is flat, but i don't have any evidence of it <45>

I can see that you're EXTREMELY passionate about this, but some of those stats can be manipulated. I have paid for streaming services too but I still watch satellite TV. You can do both.

ESPN+ has to somewhat complicate the whole “Theres a UFC tonight? Let’s pitch in and order it!”

“Oh shoot we can’t order it on Satellite Dish or Comcast? What is ESPN+? How do we get it up on the big screen? Never mind!”

I can’t help but wonder, how manny times has this happened?

I think it’d be nice if we could choose between ESPN+ or good ol PPV. Why not both?

If UFC is doing good with ESPN+ then more power to them, but will they ever be able to top Conor/Khabib buys with this model?
doesn't really matter if they'll ever top the Conor/Khabib PPV. it's how much money they do in the whole year.
besides, TV deals have taken over as the biggest money maker for UFC

So shitty events, overloaded with women's fights, that are poorly marketed and placed on penny ante pissant webstream services are actually growing the sport? Show me the numbers, SherBro geniuses.
Just because YOU, 1 fucking imbecile on sherdog, doesn't see the 3 people he knows streaming MMA, now its all over

There isn't like 3 billion people with wifi and cellphone access or anything

I'm not passionate about streaming statistics, you asked a question and for a source and I provided it. Of course there are subscribers to both, and that is included in the polling.

Frankly, and take this in the spirit it is intended, this is common sense stuff and should not need to be explained.

Netflix and streaming in general is now ubiquitous in US households. Obviously this is not primarily serviced by folks strapping HDMI cables to their computer.

Cheers.

Both of these comments are really dumb. You pitch in and order it exactly the same as before...go to your friends house who's ordering it and give him $10.

Everyone under 40 should not have an issue getting the app on their tv.

Your question is like asking "how do i watch netflix on my tv?"

I love how people in this thread act like they are more fans of the UFC accounting department than they are of having good fight cards that everybody can watch.

Buncha corporate shills in this thread.

"UFC is doing better than ever financially idiot herr derr"

<GinJuice>

They have plenty of awesome fights n fight cards.

They have 500+ fighters that they need to give fights. They cant have 12 events a year showcasing high level fights such as Forrest vs Elvis Sinosic.

There are more fights n more good fights on now than ever and all you dipshits do is complain how every card sucks.

How about you guys fuck off? Most of you cheap pieces of shit dont support the sport at all except via illegal streams n think your opinion means anything.

There are way too many streaming services. Disney owns ESPN+, HULU and Disney+

My guess is all this shit will become one thing?

The Disney+ deal is only going to be worth it if they put more adult content on the service from their acquired companies. Idgaf about Disney's own catalogue. That shit is for kids.
