Can't even understand the bloodlust of Roman society lol.

"OK, so on the west end of the Colosseum we will have a guy. We will give him, oh...a shield! On the east end, we will have a LION! Crowds gonna love it! This will be the prelim for the main event, dude tied to a post vs Rape Giraffe!!"

Nothing catches a crowd like spectacle and violence (and sex), and especially if the names involved are known commodities, and especially if those names aren't generally involved in any of it on a normal basis.

I always liked the Net Guy in those gladiator contests. You get a trident. You get a net. You throw it! Like this! Heeyaw!

Only ends when all spectator's pockets are empty.

A Youtuber is wrecking MMA fighters in combat sports.

this is the issue, the general population sees it as chipping away at MMA. It’s 90% supported by the MMA fanbase as well sadly. 90 percent of the attendance on Saturday was MMA fans. As long as we keep showing interest, this won’t die anytime soon.

Jake is still fighting better comp than man club fighters. At least he is taking on fighters, a lot of boxers star again 0-0 opponents

Isn't that because Jake was wealthy and able to hire the best coaches? Now he works hard and has some grit, has to, doesn't mean he deserves respect for beating up physically shot smaller MMA fighters looking for a paycheck. He picks carefully.

Just notified via ESPN of the mega-gimmick fight coming this fall, Logan Paul vs Dillon Danis. In boxing. Lmao not even compelling even slightly.

Can't wait for that to not happen

Edit* It's Logan too? Fuck, might as well put it on the WWE Extreme Rules card with a big asterisk at the bottom: Card subject to change

it's Logan not Jake though

Jake should fight McGreagor in boxing

We should all respect the Paul brothers abilities and talents.... jeebus, give me a break.
He's gonna beat the brakes off Danis. Money will be made, but based solely off the fact that their target audience will presume Danis can throw hands bc he's linked to Conor, not realizing he'd lose a boxing match to a wall. This is about as as compelling as Askren boxing, presume it ends in similar fashion.

Logan took Roman Reigns to the limit. What's Danis gonna do when he's staring up at

I'm just blown away that people pay for this. I've never watched a celebrity fight (other than post fight highlights) and I never will. I can only assume the vast majority of PPV buys are bars/pubs.

I can see it stopping if someone who probably has no business boxing dies or gets seriously hurt.

What we've learned is that MMA fighters, at least the physically depleted guys he is fighting, are terrible pure boxers (and that's ok), not that the YouTuber has any modicum of actual talent. If he actually had "some skill" he would arrange a fight against a top 7 to 15 cruiserweight boxer because I can assure that doesn't end well and I can further assure you they take the fight with the millions he is offering.
Now you're saying he has to beat a high ranked boxer before "we" give him any credit. *Sighs* You want to split hairs about what "Some Skill" means so you can hate on Paul. Have at it bro. I don't care enough to argue with you.

it's actually really climactic the way all of this started building up. Remember it started with Anderson Silva saying he wanted to box RJJ. It reminds me of board game in the planning phases and much of the current activity had been pre-set.

100%, I'm not giving a cherry picker the slightest bit of credit until he actually accomplishes something worthy of said credit.

And remember there is credit as a business man and credit within the fight game. He gets none within the latter. He gets tons for the former.

It will always be around in some form or another, it just might look a little different.

I will say this though. Jake Paul is going to have to fight someone real at some point or people will lose interest. You can only beat up over the hill MMA fighters for so long. At least I hope.

Wishful thinking.

He doesn't have to fight someone real. He might have to move on from over the hill MMA fighters, but it's about selling stories and freakshows. So he could move onto fighting Mark Zuckerberg or politicians or movie stars or whatever gets views. Or fight his brother or ex-NFL players like Greg Hardy or some shit.

I think we are downplaying what he has done, sadly. Many of us didn’t think he would beat Ben, definitely not Woodley and Silva. At some point we have to look in the mirror. Was this something we just learned (MMA guys getting beat up by a guy that just took up the sport), or was our expectation just completely off?
