How long before gimmick boxing dies for good

How long before the profit bubble pops? When will people get wise to the gimmick and when will promoters like Jake Paul stop making money from these shitty entertainment events?

Bro, you gotta realize that people these days like to consume mediocre, luke-warm, uninspired trash. Let's look at some of the examples:

. Music: musicians either mumble or use auto-tune most of the time.
. T.v. and film: reboot old, cherished franchises and then add a poor script heavily laced with social agendas.
. Fashion: women don't even know what to wear anymore so they just stick leggings on that suck in their saggy ass and cover their chubby stomachs and then they don't even wear a shirt. They just slap on a sports bra. They've given up too.
. Social media: everyone acts like a parrot quoting or hastening catchphrases, or copying the behaviour of some influencer who is usually some self-absorbed douchebag who leans on gimmicks and has no life.

People have given up. They don't try at anything meaningful. There is no substance out there. So why would they want to watch actual talented athletes box (they wouldn't even know how to understand) when they can watch two youtubers do it poorly?

Elon vs Zuckenberg is going to be nuts.

Gimmick boxing would have saved Tupac and Biggie´s lives....

I think the Jake Paul/YouTube boxing thing is losing steam I think it may peak with a KSI fight, but then Jake(if he wins) will have to fight a legit fighter or people will stop watching. He can only keep the fights vs older smaller way past prime opponents going for so long

It's here to stay. As long as social media influencers can get people to pay for these events, it's going to keep happening.

It's basically an unlimited supply of money without needing to build up a fighter through what is seen as legitimate means

lol it’s gonna get worse. Thanks to tiktok, yt, ig “celebs” and commissions handing licenses like candy on Oct 31.

when "real" boxing stops requiring fighters to dummy up their record to 20-0 beating jobbers in tijuana before being offered any meaningful fights and marketing.

It's fucking wank, but it will take some cunt getting Apollo Creeded in the ring to stop it now.

It will probably get less and less popular due to the low quality of these fights.

People tune into fights mainly for drama. 2 fighters that hate each other. Or 2 fighters that are P4P greats. Or just 2 fighters nowhere near as good but they wanna see one guy get KTFO.

It's the reason people tune into regular street fights. So no it will never go away.

I remember when Mayweather-Pac was happening a lot of people who never watch boxing started becoming eerily emotionally invested in it. They made it into a grand struggle between good vs evil lol. The good being Pac and the evil being Floyd. Rather than it being two rich guys who have no personal beef with each other punching each other for ridiculous amounts of money. There certainly more drama surrounding the fight than the actual fight itself.

Fights are all about drama - who you want to win, who is the "good guy" and who is the "bad guy." Doesn't really matter the level of skill TBH. It's all about emotional investment.

That's why Elon Musk vs Zuckerberg would do crazy numbers.

True… there has always been these sideshow attractions.

but the difference is that the don’t seem like sideshow attractions at the moment. They seem like sport defining matches

As plenty have pointed out its always been a thing and it always will be to one extent or another - however the current bubble specifically for social media influencer fights is imo already on the downward slide. You can see that with organisations involved in it going bust and a bunch of these events failing to make any actual money already.

I think we'll look back on Paul v Fury as the zenith of this stage of carny fights in the years to come.
