How is Rumble losing to Koscheck and Belfort relevant...

It is relevenat and when Rumble becomes champ, Koschek will be the perennial champ by default deal with it.

Manuwa is a talented and decent striker. He could have easily caught Gus but Gus made it look easy. Shogun had a good performance vs Gus as well but Gus is just that much better that it looked as if Shogun got owned. Davis and Gus fought in 2010 dude. No comparison for today. Gus would carve Phil up standing and stuff his TDs all day long. Oh ya, and Gus isn't ducking top contenders because he's fighting a guy who just destroyed Phil and Lil Nog. Do you want to discredit and disrespect a Rumble as well??

Gus ducked rumble before thinking he could wait for his shot after jones vs dc bout when it was scheduled for September.

Every fight he got RNC he pretty much dominated up until that point.

Kos couldn't out wrestle Johnson in the first rnd.

Clementi was getting absolutely stomped the first round.

And vitor had been dropped by a strait right before the grappling sapped rumbles energy.

In preparation for this fight I only considered rumbles fights against AA, Rogerio, and Davis as relevant.

Also I only look at Gus' fights against thiago, shogun, jones, and that British guy as being relevant.

Anything before that the guys are 2 green.

For example if jones had fight page or machida when he fought bonner he would have lost. Clearly he's much better now.

This.... Lol

Gus eye poked then got a tko. Jones made shogun tap to strikes, Gus went to decision and shogun did better than people him credit in that fight. Phil Davis may dominate Gus like he did to glover

Keep on grasping at them straws son

He's the Emilio Estevez of the Might Ducks bro

Because Davis used a smothering wrestling gameplan which Rumble most likely cant or wont mimic.

YOU are the one making the same argument that gets that exact response...

I haven't seen anyone bring up Rumbles losses except AS A COUNTER to the exact shit you're spouting in this thread.

Gustafsson wasn't training full time and had only been burning through the european rankings fighting 30 yo polish dudes. In comes Phil.

The reason why it's so dumb to mention the loss to Davis is because the improvements Gustafsson has made since then are so well documented. He HAS BEEN TRAINING WEEKS UPON WEEKS with THE SAME WRESTLER WHO TAPPED HIM.

To then think that he's anywhere near the same level as before he had a single camp at Alliance is the classical sherdog sign of intelligence.

Neither are irrelevant.

Most of us, including myself gave Gus zero chance against Jones because of his loss to Davis. He was taken down at will, subbed with ease and tapped quickly.

He rebounded with 6 wins and then gave Jones the toughest fight of his life and arguably won the fight. He clearly improved, matured and evolved as a fighter.

With Rumble, he has lost 3 fights via rear naked choke, has a history of gassing and has fought a much lower range of fighters. He's looked great in his UFC return but the questions are still there on what will happen when he's getting hit back and it goes past the 2nd round.

Gus has shown improvement, Rumble appears to still be the same guy. Dangerous but inconsistent against top guys.

This.

Styles make fights, and Gustafsson's size combined with his skillset that largely emphasizes movement, boxing, along with great grappling defense made him a tough fight for Jones. The only fight he's actually looked exceptionally good was against Jones and that's because of the point I made above. Gustafsson has obviously improved, but it's not as if he's the only one that's supposedly improved leaps and bounds but Rumble hasn't.

Rumble was fighting out of his weight class, which can be very detrimental to certain fighters' careers (see Robbie Lawler at MW) but he's matured since then and has found his real weight class. He's obviously improved since he Davis was largely favored when the fight was announced and Rumble went on to defend against every TD attempt and destroy him on the feet.

He also went from laying on Hardy for a decision to knocking out Lil Nog in under a minute.

Both men have improved.

Glover Texiera and Alex Gustassfson are two different guys. Is Glover fighting for the next title shot? Did Glover beat up Jones and almost take the gold from him? Fuck no. Therefore your comparison of Phil "dominating" Gus like he did Glover makes zero sense. Phil didn't dominate Glover btw, he gathered points for the judges like he does in most fights.

Gus literally battled Shogun and won a gritty well deserved decision win. Fighting Shogun 3 years ago, being a true fan knows that a gritty win over Shogun means something. No excuses about eye pokes and all this other BS, it's a fight, Gus fucked Jimi up and did it to a tough and talented guy. AND made it look easy like he did Shogun.

That actually happened though. Had that fight happened in September jones could have fought Gus in March this year.

And in two days he's fighting him.

Rumble has a better gas tank as lhw and a hw. At ww and mw he had one round of fighting andor he gassed. He didn't gas against arlovski and he didn't gas against Davis. He may gas with Gus but that has yet to be seen. I can also say Gus only had one test with his chin with jones which he barely survived with that elbow. We will also see if Gus has an iron chin.

Lol so TS's point is that Rumble has improved in 5 years but not Gus.

I remember most of sherdog saying glover wins by vicious ko. I thought that too until Davis neutralized glover.

Making shogun tap to strikes means nothing then? How is Gus not finishing shogun more impressive. if shogun was over when jones beat him then shogun was a zombie fighting Gus. Gus finished somebody immediately following an eyepoke if jones did that then you would be calling for jones head.
