How intelligent is Joe Rogan?

People may not be fans, but to call him below average when the average person doesn't know basic facts is rich. The guy holds conversations with confirmed smart people for hours. Dumb people can't do what he does. He only gets backlash is because he saw the absurdity of the left and called it out. Same as Maher. Same as Stewart. Same as Fetterman. Conspiracy theory stuff makes for a good show. He is interested in different topics across the spectrum, that isn't common for low IQ people.

If it is not a result of intelligence then what is it? You are regurgitating the ridiculously stupid "it's about the art" mantra. Kim Kardashian has established a near 2 billion dollar net worth from the entertainment industry, greater wealth than pretty much any movie star, rapper, or athlete you can name and you are telling me the reason is all these geniuses in the industry just decided they didn't want people to actually watch their work and become a billionaire.
I already addressed all of these arguments in my last post and answered the question you open this post with. It really isn't a hard concept that someone can find an audience without being a genius.

He's clearly a smart guy. Anyone denying it is probably politically motivated.

Before his podcast blew up, the MMA community universally thought of him as a smart guy, not a genius, but pretty smart. It wasn't until he started having right leaning guests on JRE that the topic of "Is Rogan smart?" became a divisive one.

Somewhere between how dumb many sherdoggers think he is, and how smart Joe thinks he is.

If by intelligence, we define it as the standard/stereo type of cognitive capacity or expertise, dude is above average.
He obviously is very good at his craft as a communicator, which is easier said than done.
Conversation & meeting people, is an exploratory dynamic... & while i feel I'm pretty good, I've said alot of dumb shit that I wish I didn't. I think we all have.

That said in managing his life, & doing quite well... navigating the pit falls of fortune, fame & power.
Quite well. Living well is definitely the most important intelligence/knowledge.
In that case, I'm not sure I wouldn't fuck it up on the way.

That's a type of intelligence that is more important than cognitive capacity or propositional type inteligence or capacity.

(I'd rather have the ability to determine what has real relevance/value in life and solve daily/existential problems that are hard to define in in real life, than a type of intelligence/capacity that can solve physics equations/ (or what not) that are usually associated with the term intelligence or knowledge).

TLDR
I think he's smarter overall than most people think.

He's an entertainer who built a very large platform and brand, I think that qualifies him for being average at worst, but he's no genius, so somewhere in above average?

He's certainly no intellectual and has some wild takes, but he's probably above average. Then again, what really makes somebody smart in this regard? I'm sure there are some nuclear physicists who absolutely suck at geography and history, and can't play a musical instrument to save their lives. Are they "dumb", because they're not smart in all things?

If you have a job where you interact daily with the average American, it isn't far fetched to believe Joe is of above average intelligence. Though, he probably isn't as smart as he believes he is

He knows a tiny bit about a bunch of things.

But doesn't know alot about one subject.

It makes sense that dumb people hold him in high regard.
My opinion has changed recenttly

I used to generally hold a similar argument as you but have come to realize I wasn’t giving him his due….low grade hate I guess which is nothing compared to the dudes who polled he’s a moron

His lazy intelligence has gotten him in hot water a number of times and I think his judgement on certain things is generllly terrible

But…
  1. By all accounts he has a steel trap memory and apparently remembers everything…I’ve heard or read several people who don’t know eachother say this about Rogan. Strong memory accounts for a lot.
  2. No one can not say he’s not a super high level conversationalist.
  3. He has had considerable social impact
  4. Hes open minded and can correct an opinion if fit (Bernie Biden Trump)
  5. He is extremely perceptive
  6. He has extreme wealth
So in a way his genius level EQ trumps his IQ which is good in comparison. I polled a notch higher than I have in the past I voted very intelligent

He has to be above average right? Long time UFC commentator, successful comedian, world's most listened to podcast.

Realistically, he is avg or slightly below. He considers himself a comedian, yet he constantly misses obvious jokes and sarcasm in conversations on his podcasts. Comedy is supposed to be his ultimate wheelhouse and on some occasions it's really concerning that these things sail right past him.

50% of you voted above average or less and the majority of you aren't a self made millionaire with desireable lives, lol!

He's "very intelligent," imo. He's had a lot of stupid moments play out in public because he's such a public figure. We all have his number because he said Ronda could beat half the men at BW or whatever. But, for every foolish take, he's had a discussion with some different expert on some random topic that I can't even follow. Maybe that just says more about... my intelligence. But I'm not bitter enough towards Joe Rogan to deny that he's "very intelligent."

i found it very illuminating, seeing him talking with fellow-comics in the lead-up to his most recent 'Special', gushing about how great it was to work on comedy again, how he was really happy with the special, how he was working so hard so get every word right, every gesture and intonation, he was just writing material and rehearsing it, and honing it to perfection...

then when the Special came out... well, there was a lot of raised voices, and high comedy voices, and some physical comedy, and of course he ended up repeating a lot of his well-worn riffs on THE TRANNIES, and uh.... well lets just say it didn't strike me as being the most intensively-written set I'd ever seen. Actually, it struck me there was barely any writing at all, just a dude who is used to being listened to thinking that his stream-of-consciousness must be funny in its own right. It isn't.

i would say around 100 IQ.
smart enough to be a bit above average, dumb enough never to be able to access the sublime.

He made one of the worlds most popular podcasts and has hundreds of millions in the bank you don't do that by being an idiot.
