How do I do this without being a villain? Do I?

Ok so basically I’ll dive right into it but my father for years donated anonymously to the food bank. On his passing, I found this out. I thought maybe to keep his memory alive, I would continue to do so in the same fashion and have been a donor for about 5 years anonymously as well. I have done contracting work for them free of charge a couple of times that people may or not know about but I wanted to be anonymous in my donations just in the spirit of my father. All cash.

Anyways, as time has gone on, I noticed that my anonymity was not so due to the lady running it having a big mouth. Not a big deal, mostly a minor thing. Whatever. I was annoyed. I also have some issues with how the money is spent and if I had some time alone with the books, I’m sure there’s some stuff going on I wouldn’t agree with.

But as most Canadians already know, we are plagued by immigration scammers. A common system they use to get in is our international student program. 4/5 of our foodbank use nationally is from people who have been here less than 5 years. Foreign students have to prove they have the funds to sustain themselves but they just borrow money from scammers in India, show it them give it back with fees and come here. There’s numerous videos of them on YouTube telling eachother how to get free food here. This infuriates me.

The other day, I mentioned how many other food banks are specifically blocking non residents and foreign students and got absolutely blasted and called down to the lowest by the lady in charge. She minced no words in what was probably the worst shit anyone’s ever said to me. She brought my deceased father into it and said he’d be ashamed of me for wanting to feed Canadians first, not those who came here on false pretences or are using the food bank when they don’t need to.

So… what would you do? My anonymity is kind of compromised and as a multiple business owner, I’m worried about backlash from refusing to donate to the food bank anymore due to what could be perceived as racism.

I’m not a far right extremist. This is a very mainstream issue right now to the point where the federal liberals who so badly broke the immigration system and allowed all this to happen are even rolling back a lot of the stuff they did. I am not in minority here.

Do I pull out politely over differences or do I continue to donate out of fear? My mom suggested I openly donate to another charity but I’d like to just lay low with this. I want to do it to help people in the spirit of my father who was a great man.

TLDR: do I continue donating money anonymously to an organization I have disagreements with, ran by a woman I hate out of fear of woke cancel culture?
No good deed goes unpunished, eh?

If you do anonymous charity, do it without looking back or into. If you desire "aimed charity", do it yourself.

As for Canada and immigrants...

I recommend you save your money as much as you can, invest in a doomsday shelter/bunker. Stuff it with food and other essentials.

Being a doomsday prepper will be your safest bet these days.

Just so it's out there.

I accept donations. It could be the answer you're looking for...

Just looks like you should setup businesses to exploit, Indian students..........
Too late for that, the market is oversaturated. I should cut all my wages so I can’t get anyone and then have the government bail me out with temporary foreign workers like so many others are doing though…

God I am so sick of hearing companies whine about a “labour shortage”. For the small price of a few bucks an hour, I was able to poach guys for my contracting company to grow. I’m not a popular guy in some circles for that but Jesus dude… you bill out $120 an hour and pay the guy 1/6 of that. You can afford another $10 an hour. I get wanting to cut costs but labour is an investment

Pay one of the homeless people to knock her off, with the promise of them also taking over the bitch lady role. Then continue with this cycle until no homeless people remain.

So you voiced your concerns and were treated with disrespect and verbal abuse? There's no shortage of charities and good causes to donate, just find another one.

You owe them absolutely nothing, but if you want, give them a heads up and tell them her nasty behaviour is the reason why you won't be donating to them anymore. Fuck her.

We get it ts.

You hate Indians and poc.

Nice way of you to say that, in an underhand way.

Simply donate to a different cause you feel is being used more effectively.

I think you’re overthinking this.

While I agree as a fellow Canadian about most of your sentiment, what do you say to people pulling out of food banks in a mercedes or bmw. Quite common to see it here. Frugal, wealthy Canadians taking advantage of it too. Tough situation for sure.

In time, all food banks will probably require a proof of citizenship. Even this one. The food banks in areas with less students just have the luxury of putting their heads in the sand / feigning superiority longer than the ones dealing with the brunt of the problem. This is what happens when people form low trust societies move into high trust societies. They think themselves clever for taking advantage.

I don’t hate anyone who follows our laws and doesn’t scam our system. We’re all in this together trying to do the best we can and some people ignore our rules and literally steal from us.

Fuck those guys with a capital F. Only the worlds biggest POS would take advantage of the food bank and literally steal from the poor.

Its your money, just the disrespect alone would be enough for me. You want to have a conversation about the organizations views on the subject, that's great. If you want to berate me for my concerns, you don't need my money.

Pull your donations and walk away. The ladies always blab about secret donors, that stuff is secret to no one, and depending on how substantial you give, the more the word gets out. If they don’t respect you, bail out unless it’s a scratch your back you scratch mine situation…

The food banks in Los Angeles are constantly in excess or don’t have the distribution methods, there are plenty of well off people accessing because the food would be dumped at some point, you are mistaken if you think all of it goes to the needy, they have welfare and food debit cards, why bother with the food bank?

It's mostly international students. As non-citizens they don't get access to welfare obviously. The Canadian government requires all international students to prove that they have the funds to support themselves during their stay in Canada. So what many of them do is they take out a loan, put it in their bank account, to "show" the government they can afford to be in Canada, then pay the loan back. Once they're here, they just start mooching off everything they can because they can't actually support themselves; they're penniless and shouldn't even be here. In Canada you can often get citizenship after completing your studies, so the ultimate goal is to game the system to get that. So many are doing this that the shelves of the food banks are empty for actual Canadians.

There are entire underground organizations dedicated to teaching people how to game the Canadian immigration system for a fee, especially Indians. India is scamming HQ so it's no surprise. They're all hoping they can scam their way into a citizenship.
