How come Andrei Arlovski is still fighting?

Pretty sure he makes a few hundred thousand per fight.

He made 320,000 from his last fight alone.

You would probably still be fighting if you were him too when you make almost 1/3rd of a million per fight.

Thats a lot more than I thought. I think Dana respects the hell out of him because I remember Dana mentioning he was a really good dude and he never talked bad about the UFC when in fact the were complete cunts when he tried to leave refusing him a fight until the last month of his contract and putting him on the prelims back during the days when they were unaired.

With that said people don't realize these athletes have bills to pay and it's not like they have a retirement plan(plus they probably enjoy the process of having a purpose still going to the gym ..etc). They are accustom to a certain lifestyle and need money. I mean shit if anyone looked at Anderson Silva's lifestyle you would realize this dude fights for money still despite the paydays he made. I looked it up on Zillow before but Silva's property taxes which is in one of the more expensive LA area is almost $50,000 per year. It's going to cost you over $1 million with increases just in property taxes to live there for 20 years. These guys have families and lots of misc expenses that they are going to have to upkeep for a long time. Getting these extra paydays is a big incentive.

Seems like all the Sherbros beat me to all the obvious reasons why Andre is still fighting...

Cause he likes money and fighting. Two birds with one stone

You never know how he’ll perform. The UFC is keeping him around because heavyweight is a very small division and can you him as a steppingstone.

With what he makes per fight, I'd try to be Greg Hardy active lol

In terms of name recognition, Arlovski > Tony Ferguson and most of the champs.

AA actually had a very nice run going from 2012-2015. In fact, had Stipe not existed, there's a good chance AA would have been fighting Werdum for the belt. And I would have picked him to win that fight.

He's fallen off a cliff in the past couple years though, and probably should retire, although when you watch his past couple fights, it's not as bad as his record appears. I thought he won the fights against Tai and Sakai, Harris popped for steroids, and he beat Albini, Struve, and Rothwell. Only person he's really been blown out of the water by is Jair, who many are touting as a legitimate threat to the title.

Still, pls retire Andrei.

Prolly a mix of he loves to fight + he gets paid quite handsomely for a MMA fighter. I'm more intrigued by how on earth this guys brain hasn't turned to mashed potatoes yet.

Just speaks to the historic quality of UFC HW division today even dinosaurs are contenders

I always root for him. He is one of the og guys still fighting in the ufc. Hw is atrocious but every fighter is dangerous and he is fighting absolute nobodies and they Re only there to make a name off.of him. He has nothing to gain other than a nights work. Andrei is an easy guy to root for.

He makes too much money to retire. I wouldnt wanna fuckin retire with his pay. You cant take it with you but goddamn.

Once he's done that kind of money is gone forever.

Because he wants to?

Some fighters just love fighting and retire way too late.

GSP gets a lotta shit but he retired at the right time. Fedor, Silva, BJ and other OG greats pushed themselves way too far.

That's why he is The GOAT. Goat mindset and timing is a requirement for goat status.

I want to know who has more brain damage between him and Cro Cop.

He adds name value and can fit in any main event, prelim or undercard when needed. He's always reliable. He goes on win streaks, even after he's went on bad losing ones. He's a former champion and UFC likes to continue to use former champs well past their expiration dates. Should I keep going?

I see that the OP was made right before he went on his 6-2 run, turning away a few prospects in the process, so I hope his performances answered that question…

Even at the ripe old age of 75, Andrei Arlovski is still a top heavyweight in the UFC.
