Askren has a legitimate path to victory: tie him up and be a weight bully, his wrestling pedigree should help and when in close range you:

It’s not a foul, plenty of boxers do this. Ruiz did it against Joshua for example. It only becomes a problem if it’s for too long. That's a foul in boxing. He'll lose points at first, then lose by DQ.
They fought the first two rounds mostly on the feet and it was mostly even. Maia's technique looks smoother but Askren did as much damage.Maia is much, much better than Askren on the feet
Possibly the worst the UFC has ever seen (obviously excluding CM Punk).
Or close to it.
And I'm a funky fan too.
Jake Shields was pretty bad
We don't know because we've only seen him in MMA fights. He's an athlete nonetheless, he might impress you when he fights Jake. The most important thing is, I think despite the age, Askren has cardio over Jake. We're all picking Jake Paul to beat him but let's really think about it. Askren has been training striking every day, sparring pro fighters, for 10+ years with Anthony Pettis, Tyron Woodley, Mighty Mouse, and RDA. He's a championship athlete in 2 different sports. People are acting like he's so bad that he'd get KOd by random in-shape guys at the local cross fit gym or random street fighters.
Is it really possible to train striking everyday for 10 years at a professional and be that bad? Or is it more realistic that he's actually very good compared to the average person, and just looks really bad against pro fighters?
but let’s not pretend he doesn’t train boxing or at least has an advantage over your average Joe.
Jake Paul is even worse than Ben Askren. I don't understand how anyone cna pick that guy to win? Because he knocked out a basketball player?
Ben Askren has been around the fight game for a long time and his experience will show when he beats the breaks off Jake.
I'm not saying Ben Askren is a good striker but ya'll must remember that he is fighting Jake fucking Paul!!!
Askren's boxing is fucking appalling. He's also 36. He's also coming off major hip surgery.
Paul has been training boxing full time for 3 years, training with and sparring with actual pro boxers, and is trained by a guy who fought for a world title in boxing. He's also about 13 years younger, has a size advantage, and is more athletic.
I hope I'm wrong, but Askren is going to lose, probably badly. He was handpicked for a reason.
