It is pretty bad...and MMA fighters typically transition poorly to boxing due to their muscle memory of their MMA stance and techniques
Makes Maia look like goddamn Pernell Whitaker RIP.
definite better chance than Nate Robinson lol...
but seriously, Ben's striking, boxing specifically, looks terrible. I don't know that I've ever seen him throw punches with his weight behind them, they're all just the arm.
I hope he wins for MMA sake, but I don't think he has a huge advantage outside of having been in big fights before.
Are you sure he's trained striking every day for 10 years? It didn't look that way in the UFC. What will you say if the internet/instagram guy beats him? It's a very bad look for the UFC and MMA if he does. We're all picking Jake Paul to beat him but let's really think about it. Askren has been training striking every day, sparring pro fighters, for 10+ years with Anthony Pettis, Tyron Woodley, Mighty Mouse, and RDA. He's a championship athlete in 2 different sports. People are acting like he's so bad that he'd get KOd by random in-shape guys at the local cross fit gym or random street fighters.
Is it really possible to train striking everyday for 10 years at a professional and be that bad? Or is it more realistic that he's actually very good compared to the average person, and just looks really bad against pro fighters?
It’s possible, possible, that the reason for that is he is always only trying to set up his wrestling with his strikes and so is never throwing for real, and so we never got to see what his real striking is like.
How does it though? He can't box, and doesn't punch as hard. So how does being an ex fighter help him in a boxing match? It's not like Jake Paul quits when hes tired or hurt either, as far as toughness it's pretty irrelevant in the boxing matchYeah but the guys a fighter unlike robinson or paul so that counts for alot
Might be the worst post I've ever seen posted on this site. Toughness is irrelvant in boxing? How does being an ex fighter help him more then being an ex basketball player? Are you really this dumb? The youtube kids not going to last 8 rounds of boxing, no chance, he won't know how to pace himself and will tire within a few rounds. How does it though? He can't box, and doesn't punch as hard. He makes Cindy Dandois look like Sugar Ray Robinson.
