How bad is Ben Askren's boxing really?

We're all picking Jake Paul to beat him but let's really think about it. Askren has been training striking every day, sparring pro fighters, for 10+ years with Anthony Pettis, Tyron Woodley, Mighty Mouse, and RDA. He's a championship athlete in 2 different sports. People are acting like he's so bad that he'd get KOd by random in-shape guys at the local cross fit gym or random street fighters.

Is it really possible to train striking everyday for 10 years at a professional and be that bad? Or is it more realistic that he's actually very good compared to the average person, and just looks really bad against pro fighters?

It's very bad, I've been boxing only 2 years and am way better than him. But that's because he does everything to set up that awkward bend from the hips drag down style takedown.

He is about the level of someone who has trained 1 year, probably intermediate class level. He can jab cross and hook, but that's about it.

I don't know what he is going to do against Jake Paul

If I had to choose any known MMA fighter to put the gloves on and have to throw hands with, I'd probably pick Ben Askren. I'd honestly rather fight Ben Askren than Amanda Nunes. She clearly knows how to punch better than he does.

Might be the worst post I've ever seen posted on this site. Toughness is irrelvant in boxing? How does being an ex fighter help him more then being an ex basketball player? Are you really this dumb? The youtube kids not going to last 8 rounds of boxing, no chance, he won't know how to pace himself and will tire within a few rounds.
He’s been training boxing for a few years and was a state wrestling champ

How can you possibly know he cant go 8 rounds? Have you watched him in the gym, been to his training sessions? Its so frustrating to see people make statements like yourself with absolutely nothing to back it up. Your just making assumptions.
Well maybe beacause boxers start there careers fighting 3 rounders and even in the pro ranks you see boxers getting built up from 4 rounds then to 6 then to 8 then to 10 then finally to 12 rounds. If you think this kid is going to be able to go 8 rounds with no experience then your deluded.

I JUST CANT SEE BEN ASKREN DOING FUCKING ANYTHING ON THE FEET (even against a youtuber turned boxer).

Come on seriously guys? I really feel like Ben is MASSIVELY underestimating Jake here to the point where it sounds crazy delusional.

What I'm expecting is for Ben to take a few jabs to the face round 1 then proceed to make this the most boring and unwatchable boxing fight in history. HE WILL CONTINUE TO CLINCH AND GRAB AND TRY TO "WEAR OUT" JAKE TO FATIGUE HIM BUT HE WILL NEVER HURT OR ROCK JAKE.

MARK MY WORDS.

Ben Asscream's boxing is so bad,he'd get pieced up by a one armed southpaw.....missing the left arm.

Ben was landing cleaning inside uppercuts. Those, and the little gnp he landed in the first, is what I believe marked up Maia so much.

Maia is my favorite fighter, just in case people try to say im a funky fanboy...

I'm not acting like it wasn't close, but it seemed pretty clear to me that Maia was landing the cleaner, more impactful strikes in that fight. Doesn't really matter though.

I think the gifs of Ben throwing the terrible spinning backs fists are all some people have actually seen of the fight.

Maia definitely landed the cleaner shots at a distance. It wasn’t even close. Ben landed good inside shots.
