I don't get pre-workout
Have a coffee if you need it.

That's what I do and agree it's the most cost-effective solution. 5-hour Energy and the like is just bullshit overpriced caffeine. But the old school pre-workout stuff was way stronger - I remember Ultimate Orange back in the 90's had so much ephedrine, guarana and WTF-else you'd be amped up with heart pounding before you even finished warm-up sets. IIRC they took it off the market and changed the formula because it was causing heart attacks.

mental kool-aide . No different than hype music. You could get the same workout to Beethoven but Nsync just goes harder.

Given inflation, coffee is probably about as much as preworkout per serving. I take Hyde Xtreme. Whatever is in it, I respond well to and it keeps me going for hours.

What I find funny about PWOs is that gym bros that would never touch a drug in their life and are the typical guy who'd call anyone using drugs a junkie are the same people using PWO's that are shock full with all kinds of weird uppers that are meant to give the same effect as amphetamine with the only difference in that they work worse and give more side effects

Alpha Lion Sport or Burn . Sport has 75mg caffiene ? small dose .
take it at 5pm, get a hard workout in, go outside do yard work, come back in and do laundry, grab a broom, clean kitchen, chase kids and throw them around, get told to sit down and be still. Lay in bed til midnight staring at ceiling wondering why you did again. Come 5pm, do it again.

I used to take a caffeine pill and a B complex. I think that's what @DEVILsSON used to recommend. That was before I ever drank coffee so 200mg of caffeine would make my body tingle. Saved it only for PR attempts.

The main reason I don't like pre workout is I avoid sweeteners and don't enjoy "pump".

I want to add lat pulldowns into my routine. I have the wall mounted cable tower, but I don't have anyway to anchor myself like the lap bar does on a lat pulldown. Is there a simple workaround that I am overlooking?
So I struggled with this myself but you can simply hold yourself down. You’ll have to brace and lean back slightly but you’ll find that targets the last even better. You will have to drop the weight though. I have found 120 or so to be a good working weight (model pending of course)

This shit is the devil. Took 3/4 scoop and did my entire deadlift day without blinking then walked a couple miles and was high for hours after. Threw up three times and slept on my bathroom floor to keep cool

Do you recommend snorting? This sounds amazing

I used to take up to 400-500mg caffeine with aspirin. There used to be an ECA stack when ephedra was still legal. Aspirin simply extends effects of the stimulants.

I now take excedrin (caffeine+tylenol+aspirin).

B-complex may help to temporarily limit perception of stress/exhaustion.

Melatonin may be an underrated performance booster. I take over a gram daily and my test results just came back 81% of upper limit and more than 50% more than average for my age. I also scored higher than average for men 20 years younger than me. It's an enormous dose to the uninitiated but I highly recommend trying it. All my other blood work came back within range after fifteen months of taking such a dose and hundreds of milligrams for 1.5 years.

"
  • Athletes who were supplementing with melatonin showed an increase in total antioxidant capacity for muscle protection compared to the placebo group.
  • Melatonin supplementation appeared to prevent the increase of chemical toxins created during oxidative stress compared to the placebo group.
  • Participants taking melatonin had reduced levels of harmful chemicals, which indicated they experienced less exercise-induced muscle damage from oxidative stress compared to the placebo group.
  • The melatonin group maintained a higher ratio of protective enzymes that help preserve muscle tissue compared to the placebo group.
  • Total cholesterol levels were reduced in the melatonin group compared to the placebo."

Preworkout melatonin boosts carbohydrates used by the muscles.

Preworkout melatonin also boosts growth hormone.

Grabbed a couple Alpha Lion products from the Friday sales 50% off. The Sport preworkout 75mg caffeine + the Night Burn 3mg melatonin cocktail and sleep is much easier to come by. Lay down and out within 10 minutes instead of restless mind wondering overloaded on excessive hype dust

I never really research supplements, just half ass take them then say they did nothing. Good reads you posted.

Great Lakes Girya has a silly dumbbell sale going. Got a pair of 125lbs bells for 100 each and free shipping

Ordered a Clydesdale barbell. Now the waiting game begins

that's a great sale! the few items I looked at when you said GLG were way overpriced and not worth looking around much

Not heard that name in a while. Did you land a $30 auction steal?

Would sell the Rogue back to them for double the price then charge shipping. They would hire you on the marketing team.
