Homegym MEGA Thread

Got a random email from someone at Kabuki a couple of weeks ago asking how I was liking the stuff I bought from them last year. I mentioned the issue with the Transformer Bar having one side that sags a little. He asked for a picture of it and I sent one over. Been a week and he never replied. Don't know what the point in asking was.

Technically I did buy a "blemish" bar and I guess the sag could fit in that category because the bar functions fine. Just a weird move on their part. Wish the Rogue version would have been available when I ordered and if mine ever explodes or gets stolen I'd order from Rogue.

What's your honest take on that thing? Not a sales pitch but how fast does it transform or how often are you using more than 1 setting

And that Fringe Belt squat hit the shelf. $250. No thanks, it's the same post & pipe device for $100

Without a doubt it has been one of the best purchases I have made. Switching modes on it is just pulling a pop pin or rotating the sleeves to a different position. Right now I am primarily using it for low bar squats because that is mainly what is in the program I am doing. The low bar setting feels way more natural than a regular ssb.

When I did other programs I used it regularly for front squats and good mornings. I will also use the goblet squat setting because with the weight out front it won't roll off my back and I grab the rack with my hands to do calf raises. I think the only setting I haven't really used is the ssb setting which is kinda funny. I wanted to try the Marrs bar because I read that it simulates a low bar squat well, but for a similar price I think this bar is better because of the versatility.

It seems like a great pick up 5/6 ways to use 1 bar but it rarely shows up anywhere. A couple Duffin and a couple Cerabus vids will show someone using it. After you get the virgin burning out of your legs, you start to look forward to squatting.

Anyone have much experience with force USA. In particular the bellow. It’s on offer for 300. I’m mainly after something with safety bars for benching, the pull up bar is a bonus, I already have a squat rack. It’s on sale but the price still makes me suspicious

I think that's the one Gluck just reviewed this week. Saw a 30 second part of it where he was hating how close the bottom tie bar on the feet. BRB, going look.

Edit: I lie, it was the Balance From Power Rack

They read my mind at the beginning of that lol

I think a rack like that will serve you just fine if you really want to just use it for bench and pull ups. If you think you may end up wanting to build on to it and add attachments then you might look around for a rack with 3"x3" uprights.

Or depending on your squat rack, would spotter arms fit in your wheelhouse

Picked up a pair of Powerblock Sport EXP (5-90) for $360 from the Woot deal 2 weeks ago. Haven't used a pair of powerblocks in a long time. Didn't realize you need to remove the rods to make 5 lb adjustments, but overall not a huge deal and 10 lb increments is still super fast to adjust. Now I'm hoping to find a deal on a Powerblock stand. I may end up selling my Ironmasters (10-120 lb), but we'll see.

I love my Powerblocks. Jealous you got them for 360.

Made a few small purchases recently and I am pleased with all of them. Got some phantom wrist wraps from Pioneer. Stiff as shit out of the box, but they are breaking in nicely. Pioneer makes some quality stuff.

Bought Stoic knee sleeves since my Rehband had a small tear. Almost went with the new SBD sleeves, but getting the right size on their elbow sleeves was a bitch. Stoics came from Amazon so returns wouldn't be a problem and they were $50 cheaper. More support than the ones I had, but I'm glad I didn't try to get the new super stiff sleeves out there.

Also got a new bench pad from Rep. Wider than the standard pad and they have a new vinyl. Sucks to spend another $80 when I got the bench less than a year ago, but the grip on the new pad makes me believe it was worth it.

Just purchased a front squat harness. It's Titan's, but I ordered if off Amazon, that way if it sucks I won't have as many problems returning it. I see Clint Darden use one a lot. I miss squatting, so hopefully this works.

Got my front squat harness. I like it. It has a learning curve, but nothing too hard. Just make sure you brace on the pickup. The zercher handles feel better for squatting than the front rack position, but I plan on doing both. I'm about to start Brian Alsruhe's RPM program to lose some fat and gain some conditioning. I think this tool will help out a lot.

That dude is all over the place with his training. Bags then rows then fasting in the woods then HITT power lifting ... He stays busy, and jacked.

I wish I had his energy levels. RPM takes the Big Four and turns it into a EMOM style training with lower percentages. It's still supposed to be brutal.

Really wild when you find out his workouts are 15-30 minutes because he can't keep anything in stomach. Bag work is impressive.
Wondering how he's keeping his chicken and broccoli supply being up in the woods without internet. Must be a bulk order when he comes to town.

If anyone was considering getting a belt from Pioneer today would be the day. I don't think they do Black Friday so this might be their only sale of the year. The double suede 13mm belt I bought a while back is $140 instead of the $170 I paid.

The home gym overall pricing must have finally peaked and so many companies are over stocked. Hella sales from every company for any holiday. Outside of Titan, they just have increase across the board. Even on previously owned Scratch N Dent products.
