Holly Holm was supposed to be the best boxer in UFC. What do you make of this fight?

But boxing wasn't the biggest factor. Shevchenko's kicks were the biggest factor, especially her counter kicks. Early on when Holm was throwing her typical 3-4 strike combinations, she was countered with a hard low-kick a few times. I believe this is what discouraged Holm from throwing her combinations as the fight progressed.

Shevchenko was clearly the better striker, and when Holm realized that she was getting hit when she was engaging, she started to engage a lot less. I know a lot of people thought it was a boring fight, but I thought it was beautiful to watch.

Valentina Shevchenko is a Muay Thai fighter.

There weren't even many takedown threats to prevent Holy from using her boxing skill to the full.

If Valentina had a decisive personality with KO power, Holy would've been finished before round 2.

Seemed to me like Schevchenko was quicker and that Holly, despite her length, had big trouble controlling the distance and isn't comfortable moving forward. I wonder what would have happened had Holly refused to move forward as well. Would they just have stood across from each other feinting for 25 minutes?

Apart from the Ronda fight, she didn't look good in those first 3 ones either.
 
lol at all the people itt saying the same thing: "This is mma, not boxing." No shit, stop trying to sound superior. All ts is saying is he's somewhat perplexed by how mediocre holms boxing has looked outside of the ronda fight given her credentials.
 
She went up against another solid striker. Shevchenko ain't no Rousey caliber striker.
 
None of the above...women have LOW FIGHT IQ...Holm is no different..she doesn't play off her strengths, and I even started a topic PRE-ROUSEY illustrating that. Holm doesn't have a "range finder" punch or kick. Like alot of male fighters throw leg kicks as their range finder when their "strike" orientated..Holm and most other women don't do that.

Valentina has faster hands, Holm needs a trainer who knows her strengths and Holms needs to listen to him..like me.
 
She needs to copy Andy in the Bonnar fight and just stand against the cage and wave her opponent in
 
she too old, i said it and say it again a women athletic peak drops around 35 thats what happen to holly tonight she out hustled by a younger fighter same thing happened cat recently she also got out hustled.

love both women tho no disrespect that's just how it is. happens male fighters too but a bit later like close to 40. ive heard of old man strength never heard of old women strength.
 
i think schenvchenko is just that good. she was not just better that night, she definitly is the superior striker and not a good match up for holly.
now still doesn't make her title shot whorthy, she needs to get a few more of quality wins.

on the weigh in show i noticed holm did not feel confortable...she did not look confident...idk maybe that's just me

Anyone who's watched Holly's boxing career knows she won fights on physical attributes like attrition, pace, toughness, cardio, output etc. Her technique was always mediocre and she backpedaled when she got in trouble to her bike. She mostly fought shit boxers in boxing seriously look at the record of most them,the only decent boxer she fought she was 1-1 with and got KTFO and thru 2 fights she was the inferior fighter.

Women's boxing is garbage, Holm's boxing was overrated and Valentina is far more technical and the superior overall fighter

Few more? LMAOOO this is women's bantamweight not lightweight. plus she just beat a top 3 fighter and former champ. she would need one more win at most
 
Holly should have engaged Valentina more in the clinch and pressed her against the cage becaus eshe was clearly the stronger female and winning those exchanges. Fight IQ = 0

She was bigger but she also got taken down from the clinch.
 
Or maybe she lost a stand up fight to a world class kickboxer.
 
Holly Holm is a counter puncher that likes to stay out of range. She also doesn't stay in the pocket during exchanges. Valentina knows this so she forced Holly to play her game.

Well Nunes is the champ now, and if their first fight had of been 5 rounds Valentina would have won. I'd be fine with her getting a title shot right away seeing as she would be the favourite.
