Holloway bad matchmaking

The 2012 fight should be completely irrelevent to the relevence of a current day matchup, considering just how early into Max career it was, and the 2019 one was a close and exciting match where the loser wasn't at peak form considering what we've seen from bulked up UFC 300 Max.
This has far more unknowns and therefore is more interesting than Dustin vs Justin 3 as we just saw them fight, looking at the on paper result as the end all be all is silly.

Where's the source that says the UFC is "trying to make Max vs. Poirier 3?"

Anyway, I'd expect something like:
  • Islam-Topuria
  • Dustin-Gaethje 3
  • Charles-Max
  • Hooker-Paddy
At this point, Arman seems to be the odd man out. He might just have to be the backup for Islam-Topuria.
This makes the most sense, Arman can rematch Gamrot.

Thinking Max is gonna get thrashed because he lost the first two is really dumb. Their first fight happened before they were even in their primes, and their second fight Max was still a featherweight fighting a lightweight.

The fact that Max destroyed Gaethje who is about the same level of Dustin is exactly why a rematch is justified.

I really hope Max vs. Poirier 3 is a false rumor. The exciting part of max moving up a division was seeing him in FRESH match ups.

Feed him to Arman, title eliminator. Topuria can fight Gamrot or some other bum.

I'd rather have Makhachev Vs Oliveira 2

Make Topuria fight Arman or someone in the top 5 before he gets a title shot.

Hooker/Paddy is good, make Holloway/Chandler so Max has a good fight.

Poirier/Gaethje is good too but Gaethje says he has no desire for it.

Money. Most casual fans today - who are the people which are buying these cards and tickets for the most part - haven't even seen Holloway/Poirier II, let alone the first one. Big names. Big gate. Easy upsell. It actually makes perfect sense under the correct context of the UFC's business model.
It makes perfect suck is what it does, the overwhelming majority don't want to see that bullshit for a 3rd time.

I agree for the most part, but Justin's hands aren't on the same level as Dustin's, not close.

That's what I don't want to see. Poirier is objectively a better fighter and now the max that fought at 300...maybe but max coming off his ego being shattered by topuria...not good. If he gets finished by Charles or idk hooker or Benny... at least I got to live through the hype of a fresh lw max matchup. Having to watch yet another Dustin max fight... it's just awful.
Were you sleeping when Max dominated Gaethje for 5 rounds?

Max only lost the last one because he was outsized.

Skill for skill, anyone who thinks he's outmatched here have no clue what they're talking about.

Max has the edge here for me, this is the best he's looked.

Everyone saying Max gonna lose again but Dustin is old and Max is not so old. Max gonna take this one maybe perhaps.

Ya ok, how bout Max vs BJ Penn and winner gets to fight Sean Sherk?
Conor has 2 fights left on his contract and is a degenerate piece of shit. Max doesn't have a lot of fights left if he still wants to amount to more than a vegetable when he retires, and his next war is against DP.

Neither Max or Conor should be in any discussion for a title shot, so a rematch at 155lbs does make sense.

The UFC can and will let Conor fight one time without risk. The UFC will 100% use Conor for 1 fight, it's pissing away good money if they don't. The UFC will freeze him out on his last fight, and he will never fight anywhere else (unless TKO buys BKFC).

So yes... I would like to see Max get paid well on his way out the door. I don't give a fuck about Conor, and if Max can earn 7+ figures in one of his final fights... I am more than good with using the corpse of Conor to further Max's bank account into retirement.

I doubt Sherk could pass the pinnacle of excellence that we call CSAD, and the barely .500 BJ hasn't won a fight since Obama's first year in the Oval Office.

In hindsight, are you not glad that the UFC doesn't listen to Shertards?
I enjoyed the fight. It was very technical with high-quality striking throughout.

People may not have believed this before the Gaethje and Poirier fights, but Max would dominant the majority of LWs in the top 10-15 with his current arsenal. His noticeably better punching power and evolving kicking game (lead leg stomps, those beautiful body kicks vs Dustin's torso).

IMO matching Max up against a fighter like Hooker, Fiziev, etc would be pointless.

If you flip a coin and get heads twice in a row would you be so confident that a third flip would come up heads again?

Sample size of two is not very big.

You've reminded me how every once in a while you'll see some idiot post that a fight should have gone to a split decision, making me wish I had access to a button I could press to make his head explode.
