How LW should be matched up if it was legit sports league

Feels like they're there forever, we need new blood fighting for the title.
The division's been stuck with the same guys on top for a decade.

I've often thought about this question by the way OP and in my mind an ELO based ranking system where you always match people with the next person up or down would create the type of transparency and meritocracy of a more legitimate sporting league.

That's what fight matrix does with the rankings but people on sherdog hate it for some reason
