Why? It doesn’t just have to be true, people have to know that it’s true—and they didn’t.
Some of that can be blamed on messaging failures on our part. We should’ve done a better job communicating our successes, but also being honest about the work that was still ahead.

But also we have wayyy lost the media/messaging war with the Right. They have a zillion podcasts and YouTube channels that are pretty far reaching, and even TV networks like FOX do way better ratings than left leaning networks.

I saw Republicans TV ads and things. They did a pretty good job painting the picture that America is iN ChAoS despite the fact that Biden was already on track to deport more people than Trump did even before his executive orders on the border, crime is down nationally, border encounters are way down, unemployment is low, stock markets high, wages are up, inflation is down, we were much more fiscally responsible.

But people by and large are not well informed politically. People seem to think I sound like an elitist asshole when I say that, but it’s true.

There's an episode of the Simpsons from way back that pretty accurately depicted what happened in this election.

Homer runs for Sanitation Commissioner making a bunch of bombastic and unrealistic promises. His competent, yet low key opponent calmly points this out and still loses in a landslide. Homer runs the department into the ground, and hilarity ensues.

Although watching Trump do the same will probably be less hilarious.

I don’t need LiBeRaL ProPaGaNdA to tell me whether Biden did well; I can look up actual data on what the unemployment rate was and is, jobs added and what kind they were, how much we added to the debt vs Trump (answer: a whooole lot less), the effects of our legislation on real people and communities—all kinds of stuff.

Compare that to FOX’s 900 billion dollar settlement with Dominion. Internal documents proved that FOX knew all of their fraud allegations were nonsense, but ran the stories anyway because they got better ratings when they did

You couldn’t have proven my point better than this. It doesn’t matter how much data I provide, it doesn’t matter how much supporting evidence I share, none of it will ever matter to you because “feelings.”

And btw, it’s only an appeal to authority fallacy if that constitutes the sole evidence. So no: Biden isn’t only good because “historians say so.” I’ve provided facts and sources that go over his achievements, the real impact on those policies on unemployment, jobs, wages, government and corporate investment, all kinds of stuff. That is actual data, not an appeal to authority fallacy.
Likewise, fact checks should be a jumping off point to do one’s own research. It is possible to verify or disprove what fact checkers say.
