Movies HIGHLANDER (Jeremy Irons Joins Cast, post #159)

Will they follow the pattern from the first movie and have Cavill portray an Egyptian pretending to be a Spaniard?

I watched the first movie free on VUDU and don't recall seeing Heather's nipple pop out as documented on the internet. It looked like it must have popped out many times during filming. The woman cop was not bad looking and nice to see she showed her boobs in other role.

Almost seemed like they tried to make the movie a comedy. The swordplay looked crude compared to maybe Star Wars prequels. Didn't recognize the main villain as the same actor as Mandalorian prison escape episode. The power up scenes after eliminating another immortal reminded me of like some Japanese anime DBZ type scene with all the glass breaking.

Was the TV show worth watching?

Who Hollywood will cast as Connor MacLeod:

Frankly, I'm shocked this isn't (as of yet) being blackwashed.

But just wait. I'm sure some role will be. Maybe Ramirez. Maybe Kurgan. Maybe Rachel. Maybe Heather. Maybe Brenda. Lots of roles to fuck up. Which one will it be?

Did anybody see that Highlander anime from about 10 years ago? It was probably the best Highlander movie other than the original. Not saying much, given its competition, but it was all right.

Yeah that was pretty awesome. I enjoyed it

Could be worse I guess. I could see it working.

Lambert wasn't exactly the best pick on paper either but he was really likable.

John Wick guy being the director doesn't give a lot of hope though. The original movie despite its subject matter had plenty of drama and emotion and wasn't a balls to the wall action fest. Hopefully it's not just a reboot to make Highlander badass.

Cavill will be scottish

Whoever play Ramirez will have the spanish-egyptian gimmick
This guy can pull it

But i don't believe good casting in 2021
Cavill is already too good, they have to fuck up somewhere

Russell Crowe to Reunite with Henry Cavill in Chad Stahelski's HIGHLANDER Reboot

Russell Crowe is boarding Amazon MGM Studios and United Artists’ Highlander in the Ramirez mentor role made famous by Sean Connery in the original 1986 movie. He joins already cast lead Henry Cavill.

John Wick architect Chad Stahelski is helming the movie for a theatrical release. Michael Finch wrote the screenplay based on the iconic 1980s cult classic.

The original Highlander (1986), starring Christopher Lambert and Connery, portrays the climax of an ancient battle between immortal warriors, unfolding through interwoven past and present-day storylines. After steadily gaining wider popularity upon its release, the film spawned several sequels, a TV series, and an enduring fanbase. Russell Mulcahy directed the movie, which was produced by Peter S. Davis and William N. Panzer.

UA’s Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt will produce alongside Neal H. Moritz, 87Eleven Entertainment, Stahelski’s production banner, Josh Davis of Davis Panzer Productions, and Louise Rosner. UA has secured full rights to the 1986 original, which Lionsgate developed, with potential to also develop a new series.

Three-time Oscar nominee and Best Actor winner (for Gladiator) Crowe can next be seen in Walden Media’s Nuremberg along with Rami Malek and Michael Shannon, directed by James Vanderbilt, which is hitting theaters on Nov. 7. He recently wrapped the Netflix thriller Unabom, Walden Media’s Cold War thriller Billion Dollar Spy and the action thriller Bear Country, directed by Derrick Borte.

Russell Crowe isn't even really Russell Crowe anymore just a fat actor. Sad he cant get into shape hes a great actor n now hes eaten himself into supporting/ guest star roles.

Ah man, we're really gonna get a 288lbs Ramirez? That sucks.

Do they have hotdog eating contests instead of sword fights in this version?

I love Cavil and Crowe, before he went Full Brando, was a heavyweight in the good sense of the word. But unless he goes through a Full Training Camp prior to filming, he's not Ramirez.

Sean was an old man, but at least in decent shape for his age, and stunt doubles did the rest. Even then, the role took it out of him. His son recalled a phone call he got from an exhausted Connery after he'd spent the day filming the scene where he and Lambert run along the beach.

Maximus Gutis would be farcical. Can you imagine him fighting the Kurgan? Crowe's Ramirez would probably gas ten seconds drawing his sword(stop sniggering, that man! ;)).

I thought it was a joke when I read it last night

Reuse the original. "I am immortal"
that song actually explained the plot of the movie without any further elaboration needed

''I am immortal, I have inside me blood of kings'' there you see, my imagination can work with that and just be like, yeah okay that makes sense.

Oh fook, how is Ramirez in this?

Is this going to be a re-telling of the original? I don't see why that is needed at all. Teh original is teh bomb.

Maybe it's just for flashbacks.

Russel Crowe is six years older than Connery was when The Highlander was filmed. And significantly heavier. He has his work cut out for him.
