You should, because.I've never seen highlander
Perhaps I should try to give it a look

It's a cult classic but it does have some weird scenes like the guy in the garage running away doing backflips that keep it from being rated too highly.
Fasil at the start is actually played by the films swordmaster Peter Diamond who worked out all the fights.
That is Bob Anderson. He was also sword master for the first few seasons of the show.Didn't I read he was the same guy that did all the saber duels in Star Wars movies wearing the Vader suit? He also did all the fight scene choreography in the TV series and there are some great fights in there.
Needs a remake for sure.
the backstory of how they become immortal doesn't make much sense. So basically if you suffer a premature death you become immortal? So anyone who has been under attempted murders becomes immortal? Anyone who dies in a war gets to live forever? It seems sort of counter productive toward what death is all about.
No, it is more like maybe one in a million is born an immortal and you only tend to find out you are one if you suffer a premature death.
Well, that or you are sent to earth from the planet Zeist to be immortal as a punishment, etc.
well so basically there's actually no real reason for being immortal.
magic space parasites? Not really. Kind of like Luke or Obi Wan being born with the Force.
Immortals can sense when other people are "pre-immortal" If they die they will become immortal. That is why in the movie The Kurgan attempted to behead Connor before he was even "immortal" from his first death. And how Duncan and Connor in the show knew Ritchie would become one (which he did) if he died from anything other than natural causes. The reasoning is they don't know. One of the things Sean Connery explained in the movie.the backstory of how they become immortal doesn't make much sense. So basically if you suffer a premature death you become immortal? The reason is right in the song duuuh. This alternate timeline you come from where that movie exists sounds kind of dumb

I found that scene I mentioned in the op. The angle and the way the sword falls makes good foreshadowing. Something about the scene seems very Shakespearian.
