The top sports leagues such as NBA and NHL have the very best athletes in their respective sports, right? If you can't cut it you get sent to the minors or sign with an inferior league.

I'm sure there are many basketball players below six feet who are "pound-for-pound" more skilled than the giants in the NBA, but they simply can't compete.

So why should anyone give a shit about flyweight MMA? No one would watch a 6' and under basketball league or a <200lb only hockey league.

Not to say smaller athletes can't compete. There's amazing talents in every sport that are better than most of their peers. (e.g. Jose Altuve, Isaiah Thomas) But those athletes give you a reason to care, they're the best of the best regardless of size. The top ranked p4p MMA fighters are the best of the best with a little asterisk next to their name.

You can't really prove a point when you compare apples to oranges.

Yeah we should just get rid of weight classes all together. If Dominick Cruz can't compete with Stipe, that's too damn bad. No one should give a shit about him.

<{cruzshake}>

I do not agree with you at all TS.

R u trolling? I enjoy a good scrap regardless of size

Then please explain why a 155lb manlet is the biggest draw in the MMA?

But people care about Mayweather...

made point a
made point b
concluded point e

too much of a leap

You are REALLY trying today TS.

Keep going.

lol at these weird losers that keep hanging on to this bullshit.

Fighters from both genders and weight classes are talented and entertaining to watch.

Fuck off.

The biggest sport on Earth by an absolute mile is football and they are on average the size of UFC LWs.

The biggest star in the history of MMA by an absolute mile is a LW.

The biggest boxing star in 20 years is even smaller.

Great thread apart from that...

People get smaller and smaller. I agree but 20 years from now there will be a lot DJ

Actually, it’d be fun to watch a men’s basketball league for guys 6’ and under.

Imagine 6’ centers, 5’9” power forwards, and 5’4” point guards, all with phenomenal speed.
It would be fast paced action.

It's fighting entertainment.

Wrestling, who is one of the most efficient fighting sport in the Olympics was going to be cut because nobody cared to watch that.

Little guys are not built to fight professionally, yes, but they have speed and stamina and make the techniques look good. They are entertainers.

That's why comparing them with LHW and HW it's apples to oranges, but they still have a place.

Fat guys think that they are tough because they are in a “higher weight class.”

Nothing TS says makes sense. People who don't care about the little guys are WWE converts that can only get their rocks off watching bloated hulks flop around.
