Henry Cejudo Complains About Fighter Pay.

Independent contractors
Opportunity not a career
“It’s your job to promote yourself” - promoter
If you don’t like it don’t sign the contract

am I doing it right? I spend a lot of time on sherdog, I really want that juicy shill contract some people on here Clearly have. I will simp for the ufc, please pay me ufc.

As soon as you get that contract you're going to come on here and bitch about how unfair it is.

UFC can sell anyone as world class and the fans buy in. As long as that's the case, they can just move on to the next one and they're all replaceable so there's really no incentive for them to pay the actual world class guys.

Perfect example is the last guy that Derrick Lewis fought. Got KO'd by some can on the regionals just a couple years ago but UFC had people believing he was elite, ranked higher than guys like Overeem and JDS, and the favorite to beat Lewis.

Pay the top guys less and bottom guys more. Max 3 million a fight regardless of draw or whatever. Guys make 60,000 g's baby, minimum. Add health care and all of that. I wonder what new issues would arise and which old ones would stay and what anyone would complain about.

here's the problem-

EVERY TIME they give in to a fighter's pay demands
(GSP, Conor, Nate, Jorge, et al)

3 things happen:

1. the fighter gets their money
2. the fighter claims theyre thrilled w new contract (look it up, every time)
3. the fighter becomes less active, or semi retired
4. the fighter suddenly wants to renegotiate the contract they previously loved.

its unfortunate they dont make more, but i do see the hesitancy, it literally never pays off if your goal is to see the fighter fight often.
That is a whole lot of shit to justify the UFC paying peanuts to its fighters. Your logic is so stupid. "Well we tried paying them a lot of money and it backfired, so lets just keep low balling them and fucking them over instead" - Dana probably.

How many is that now? can someone count the number of fighters speaking out against ufc pay?

Henry cejudo is right, he left on a high note when his value was at his highest but the ufc can low ball anyone they want by finding any excuse they can to fit their narrative , in this case...cejudo hasn't fought in a while and lost value or some bs like that. Let's just say I'd love to be a fly on the wall during those negotiations.

"They don’t want to pay, man,” Cejudo said. “It’s plain and simple. They don’t want to pay. Dana doesn’t want to pay. (If) they pay me, they got to pay the rest. And I’m out here. I’m not here to say to start a union. What I’m here to say is like, ‘Hey, man, everybody should be compensated individually.’ The guys are going to sell the fight, the guys that that are proven, like me. You know what I’m saying? So that’s plain and simple. Dana would love to see the fight, but he wants to pay me peanuts in comparison to what I really deserve. I respect the man because it’s his business, what he’s able to do to take this company to a two-billion-dollar company to what it’s worth now seven (to) nine billion and I can’t get a raise. That just seems a little off to me, man.”

Bonus diss towards gsp in there too

What would you tell someone if they said they work at Walmart and they weren’t satisfied with their pay?

Yeah you would tell them to look for work elsewhere, so why is the UFC any different? People acting like the UFC is fucken slave trading, every one of these fighters who are supposedly getting screwed over signed a contract and agreed to their pay. Some of you are acting like they’re getting forced to fight at gun point.

Yo TS, why don't you put Henry Cejudo's name in the title so people know that Cejudo made comments about fighter pay, and spoke out against Dana.

Cejudo is hardly just "another fighter". I like this message from him.

And it's really cool that he's willing to speak up. Dana usually punishes anyone who does this- bans media members, throw fighters under the bus... so it's just a matter of time that Dana publicly discredits Cejudo, and holds on to a deep grudge over this...

Absolutely NOT the same thing.l

Employees have rights, perks, benefits. They also are guaranteed to get a certain minimum amount of pay, and get paid even when they are sick or go on holidays. Human-rights has been factored into the equation, and it's upheld by the LAW.

And, if Walmart wanted to fire an employee, they HAVE to pay severance.

Walmart employees have FAR more rights and job security than UFC contractors.

Ok but you completely sidestep the fact that none of these employees were obligated to sign for the UFC. They all could have gone to another mma promotion, or sought a different line of work altogether.

So ya let’s say they’re a greedy no good company that pays little, the solution seems to be don’t work for the UFC then right?

Just quickly because I thought it was interesting, Marc Goddard said he is not employed by the ufc. He’s an independent contractor.

so why’s he allowed to ref for competitors?

Why don’t these idiots ask Ari? He owns the majority.

All these crybabies do nowadays is complain about a contract they signed and agreed to. Fight out your contract then go away already.

Triple Cringe have no right to talk shit after the fast one he pulled on Dana and the UFC.

You just don't quit the way he did especially after getting good opportunities and expect to return like it was nothing let alone whenever you feel like.

Companies don't take you serious after a stunt lile that.

The UFC is the biggest organization for MMA fighters, by FAR. And there aren't that many options overall either. There are way more fighters than there are good paying job for fighters.

The common denominator here is that there should be a pre-determined set of perks and benefits to go along with the pay for fighters, as is the usual thing with professional sports in the US. It's been repeated multiple times that unlike other sports- the athletes in MMA are treated like shit. Cejudo brings up a great point. The company has made billions and the fighters can't get a raise, not even the champions. Hell even Jon Jones dropped the belt because of this.
The revenue-share is unfair. It's often been documented. Athletes in other sports get about 50%.

There's a reason that there's a class-action lawsuit against the UFC currently. The UFC has basically been a monopoly in MMA. Even if you're a reporter, you can't make ends meet covering just Bellator. Can you imagine if Sherdog removed UFC discussions?

Dana White has had far too much leverage. This isn't like working in a convenience store where you can just go somewhere else, with plenty of options to choose from- and even there be guaranteed a certain amount of pay and perks and benefits and HUMAN RIGHTS.

Folks like you who keep saying "oh nobody forced you to sign"... well, the fact that people need MONEY to pay for expenses and to be able to have basic necessities, makes it necessary for them to be forced to be sign an unfair deal.

Your argument of "nobody forced you to sign" has been said over, and over again by similar people who forget to factor human rights and fairness into situations.

This is why some WMMA fighters end up on Onlyfans... They literally don't have much of a choice.

They have the same choice that me and you have, they can go pursue another career.

Are you really talking about “fairness” in business? You’ve been here 10 years so you can’t be that young?
