Media Helwani: UFC putting "good faith effort" in to make Jones vs Aspinall, won't be their fault if it doesn't happen

Is there any question whose fault it is?

ESPN's

They've been terrible in every way. Laggy crashing streams, ridiculous buying model, and no marketing ability. Jones' money is going to be based around PPV points. If he's only taking 1 more fight, he'll no doubt wait till 2026 when they're finally off this piece of shit network.

I know Jones haters will not agree but I don't believe for a second Jon wouldn't sign a deal immediately if UFC called Jonny up and said "we'll give you a cool 30 mil"

He most certainly deserves 30 mil. What was Dana going around saying every day for the last year about how Jones is the greatest ever? Show it to us by paying him big boy money then.
When has Jone for 30 mil or close to it during his career? All of a sudden he “deserves” it. Jon Jones fans have the least to say what he deserves knowing the shitty things he’s pulled and gotten away with,

So let me get this straight; Jones isn’t fighting Tom because ESPN sucks?

Even as a Jones fan, I find this patently absurd.

I would like to hear what "good faith effort" means in numbers, fight wont sell 1 million buys, but the UFC can take an L every once in a while...they always pay peanuts, its not like they have been paying other champions $5million + PPV points, they can shell a bit for this fight, once there is a number that makes sense then ITS on Jones, until then, its on the UFC.

Didn't volk just make like 5 mill in his fight against Lopes?

They already owned all the fault in prioritizing the Stipe exhibition match over keeping the division alive when it still very much could have been kept alive. Who cares, it's over now. We're all here for 135, 145 and wmma anyway.

<31>

I'm tired of all these goofs bitching I said he would fucking fight John Jones and he's fighting fucking John Jones. I don't know why they assumed I fucking meant Jon Jones.

John Jones has only fucking lost twice and he is coming to win this. Aspinall is in for a fucking tough fight that's for sure.

Jones wants a huge payday. It's not coming from ESPN. UFC isn't going to give him a large downside, he needs to do buys.

UFC is seeking 1 billion dollars a year going into 2026.

I know one thing His Excellency in Saudi would have got this signed by now.

Have a source? Just keep 2 things in mind, only CSAC reveals actual purses, and i meant a $5 million Purse + PPV, if he made $5M total thats great, but not what i said.

I’m bored of this. Just fight or vacate.
Exactly this. I'm just so bored and tired of the constant talking, I just want to see the fights. UFC HW belt is the least defended belt by far in UFC over the last 15 years, its so boring. Even though the division is so bad and lacking talent, it also can never get going because there is just not enough big time fights.

It has never been a secret that Jones isn't the easiest guy to deal with in the last 10 years to get in the cage.

Jones has gone off the rails a few times in his private life during this time and that is just what gets out. One of his brothers has gone off the rails also. Only one Jones brother hasn't really had major issues going on it public. Kind of tells me a little bit of crazy or whatever you want call it runs in the family.

It is very apparent Jones does not like to be told what to do and when to do it. Dana always tip toes around any question about Jones that isn't praising him up and down. Dana understands you piss on Jones he just shuts you out like many in the media he has done with for doing nothing but their job over the years. Jones just wants to feel like he is the one 100% in control. Only reason Dana puts up with this BS from him is because outside of Conor, Jones is his next money maker.

In the end it sounds like they got this fight more or less done from money stand point and they are just determining what event to put it on.

Chael is an idiot and a UFC mouthpiece. The UFC pays him to publicly pressure fighters by floating ideas. They're trying to manipulate Jones into taking the fight.

They just need to give Jones an ultimatum to sign the contract or vacate the belt. If he refuses, strip him.

Dana got that goofy face and saw dollar signs when they were chanting for Tom, at Jones' presser.

I think UFC wants it

I have no doubts Jon is the problem. He's the only person with nothing to win, and likely to be fucked up

Kinda is for letting Jones play around with them

Should have been stripped ages ago

This is Dana's doing.

Had he balls to strip Jones, we would not be in this bind. Jones can be essentially retired with the belt and roll out of bed only if UFC agrees to pay him something absurd - that's crap, but that's his prerogative. It's on UFC to take away the belt and stop the fuckary. But they are too afraid of "losing out" on the last chance to make money with Jones that they keep on trying to get the fight booked in "good faith" on reasonable profit levels, instead of doing the right thing and going "You know Jon, fuck this, you are not the champion anymore."

And for Jones the "good faith" is not "worth" bothering. And giving away the belt voluntarily would essentially mean his gives away the one card he has.

Hope things sort out and soon one way or another for the sake of the division and Aspinall (win or lose, if it's Jones he's fighting next)

Tom has to defeat Matt Hamill (the guy that defeated Jon Jones) first.
