How could anyone claim to “live off the grid” living in a town or city?
If you want to live off the grid move to the country. I have friends now that live with no power connection (in fact it would cost a lot to have line run up the mountain to them, which they would have to pay for themselves) and they have a well for water. The outhouse is a bit of an adventure in the winter but they have found a way to heat it a bit.
This is a good question. Using the "off the grid" term lightly. I live in the burbs and want the advantage of the great schools and location to everything.
However, the problem is we continue to get fucked by these huge incompetent utility companies in this area. So I want to avoid them. I don't think thats such a big deal.
Kind of like Comcast Internet/Cable in my area. If you refuse to use them for the several hundred reasons they suck, you've got to find an efficient alternative.
I appreciate the feedback for getting started.
