I did a search and didn't see anything about this... Anyway, saw this article and it caused more questions. Reason being, I recently bought a house and was interested in getting "off the grid" as far a paying current electricity bills.

This seems like a bizarre law. If people want to live out in the swamps with no power or sewer why not? As long as they're not hurting anyone else by their actions it's not really the government's business if you buy power from FP&L or have solar panels.

Big bro wants people on the grid, bro.

Solar power is cool though, I recently got a couple of panels to experiment with. You may want to consider a sun/wind combo though if you have wind in your area.

I think that is some bullshit right there. So if you wanted to buy some land and build a house out in the swamp/mountains/forest away from everything and you can't do so. Atm I personally wouldn't want to be off the grid but not having the option to do so is pretty fucking stupid.

Out in the middle of nowere you probably can. This womans house is within a city.

THe woman won on 2 out of 3 issues.

The only thing she has to do is be hooked up to a valid water supply. She was acquitted regarding the electrical and sewer system.

I think you should be able to live off the grid, as long as you sign a waiver saying you won't go to the hospital when you get a brain eating amoeba from drinking your dirty ass rain water.

Unless he is an illegal alien sneaking across our border.

I probably failed to read within city limits somewhere. I was thinking it was possibly extended into county regions as well so they could try to get people out in the boonies as well.

Nice to see government forces us to buy something other than insurance.

We should absolutely give aliens healthcare--- imagine what we can learn by medically researching an extraterrestrial?

They've been probing us for how long? Seems only fair.

I don't like it. Let the woman live how she wants. If there is something bothering the neighbors, and it is found to be a legit complaint, then investigate and wtevr..

You make a good point. However, I'm mainly only interested in producing my own household electricity. Gas and water is separate and relatively inexpensive.

Ideally it would be nice not to have with my County's public water. They are a bunch of dipshits. They keep adding these fucked up charges and when we call customer service... they are worst than Comcast.

Short Story - after our house was built, there was an underground water pipe breakage. Something like 4000 gallons leaked/ran undetected and they tried to stick us with the bill. After months and months the home owner agency agreed to pay for the fuck up since they cut the line. However, we still get this big bill and they threaten to cut us off. We've talked to customer service again and again and they're fucking clueless.

I'm sorry to hear about the county's greedy sir. That does suck. Do it the American way and sue the shit out of them, try to get money for mental damages.

To be fair I don't think the article link to makes that clear. One of the source articles listed does. So no worries.

Weird. Can you be connected and just not actually use or pay for the services?
