Law Hegseth shared detailed military plans in second Signal chat that included his wife and brother

If you came to the midwest you wouldn't be surprised. All the rural Republicans inherited their farms and never had to leave to look for work. And in the rust belt all the dying steel mills and construction companies are dominated by nepotism with foremans and managers only hiring their family for the good jobs, and crooked unions protecting the dumbest of the dumb.

Republicans are the kings of unqualified nepotism hires and whoever sucks the most asshole.
That's 100% what it is. All these companies leaving the business to privileged rich kids who have never had to work hard.

Incredible Headline. Unforgettable.

I was genuinely livid, lmao. The NNSA was one of the agencies I specifically cited that I did not want fucked with before Trump took office when the DOGE hype was ramping up. And of course, they fucked with it. There's been some really bad shit between the insane global trade wars and absurd invocation of the Aliens Enemies Act and all of the due process violations that invariably come with it. The Signal chats are really bad, but from a nat sec perspective that shit was truly wild.
Don’t forget straight up ignoring orders from the Supreme Court. Extra insane since the SC is pretty much alt right themselves these days.

It helps that the Marines are the least funded branch

It certainly helps, but it's still a W. I'm not going to nitpick when any DoD component is passing multiple audits, nor should any other US taxpayer if we actually care about these things. In other news, the Army just hit its retention goal ahead of schedule.

For the seventh year in a row, the United States Army has met or exceeded its retention goal. This time, the accomplishment comes nearly six months ahead of schedule. The Army reportedly retained 15,600 soldiers eligible for reenlistment, 800 more than the original goal of 14,800.

“The early success in [fiscal 2025] reenlistments, combined with the targeted retention strategy, is allowing the Army to effectively manage personnel requirements,” said Sgt. Maj. Enrique Rose, a senior Army career counselor. “This strategy helps the Army maintain a balanced and skilled force while supporting Soldiers’ career goals.”

The brother and lawyer are also employees of the Pentagon. Does that help?
This shows how little people understand about clearances and national security. Just because you have a clearance doesn’t mean you have the “need to know”. Why did his brother, lawyer, and wife (also uncleared news reporters) need to know anything about the strikes? They did not.

Disseminating information even to people with a clearance that do not have a “need to know” is a security violation.

You can twist this around all you want. SecDef and others disseminated classified information in unauthorized channels and to both uncleared people and people that had no “need to know”.

Stop fighting this and be a man and just admit they were wrong. Why is that so hard?

Man, at this point I'm pretty sure the entire point of his appointment was to sell our defensive secrets to any clown with a computer:

Sell? That shit is going to be stolen.

I don't even think that's it. In the case of Hegseth, we're just looking at pure, unadulterated incompetence

I think its engineered incompetence. Its retarded, but there's an ideological endgame. It really feels like the US, as we know it, is being dismantled and they want to have this sh*ttier cheaper product in its place that is there specifically to serve their interests.

I dont think it will work because most fascist regimes crumble, and it's a lot more difficult to set up another North Korea or Russia here. Americans are just not as vulnerable to that kind of ideological nonsense. But that's definitely what they want, something similar.

It is (in my opinion) the expansion of disaster capitalism beyond mere market manipulation in the interests of creating short term commercial fire sales, and extending the fire sale onto civil society itself. 'Society is Broken and Needs Fixing', and, well, 'Big Government' isn't the answer*** so what alternative is there, waiting in the wings with its protean all-consuming adaptability and hard-nosed pragmatism and deal-making acumen and culture of 'excellence'? Why, kids, its Capitalism! We have seen an example of this with Eron casually suggesting that the US 'Golden Dome' or whatever the fuck it is called should be based on some kind of subscription to his own satellites.

(*** hur, hur, 'shall I tell you the scariest thing you can hear, its the phrase "I'm from the Government and I'm here to help", hur, hur, hur. Of course, its not at all scary to hear the same sentence but replacing 'Government' with 'Big Business', right? And totally, totally conceivable that the profit principle is totally reconcilable with the wider social good. Totally.)

"The phone number used in the Signal chat could also be found in a variety of places, including on social media and a fantasy sports site"

If the Pentagon's security protocols were so easily bypassed or bypassed at all, Hegseth's competence of lack thereof would be the least of our worries since that would mean the entire US INFOSEC at the very highest level is completely useless.

Indeed, I had top secret clearance for awhile, but it didn't give me free access to top secret information just because. What the fuck are his personal lawyer and spouse doing there?
