HBO - Chernobyl anyone?

In the end, in reality, despite the many deaths, stillbirths, and long term affects, I think one of the most amazing thing turns out to be humans and natures resiliency to that ridiculous radiation.

Most who received a high dose (there weren't that many actually) did die.

I cant wait for next monday. I cant tell you the last time ive enjoyed a show this much.

I can.

Battle of the Bastards.

And before that, the 3rd to last episode of Breaking Bad.

But, in each of those, there was YEARS of build up to make those epic minutes so satisfying.

This might be the absolute best writing in a miniseries for its short-term storytelling. Brilliant.

At the end of the 2nd episode, I could feel the hair on the back of my neck standing straight up.

Was that here then? I thought that happened when the sand melted and that eventually crawled to the floor a little time afterwards.
Well it started seeping then. The corium was still down there at that time, but not the buildup you see there. That formed after they open the sluices and drain,it

Me to man. Shivers at that ending scene

So you just meant corium right? Not, that they were near the Elephant's foot.

Right. It wasn't a huge amount. But shit. Do you want to be ANYWHERE near that shit? Heh.

Where they are at, is where the foot will form.

The ending in ep 2 reminds me of playing Doom as a kid. And the whole dosimeter noise; I would have just shut that shit off if I knew I was already likely to die

I read some dude tracked these guys down and the last of them to die was actually in 2005. Independently confirmed.

I'm watching episode 2 now, and if they keep up the quality this may be on the short list of the GOAT mini-series.

It could be up there with Band of Brothers.

They both have identical IMDB ratings at the moment. Even if it sustains though 5 episodes as it has through 2, and it's been great, I still give the nod to Band of Brothers since it was excellent over 10 episodes which is hard to do.

I saw a video explaining what happened to the three men.

Didn't post it because it'd be a spoiler for the oncoming episodes.

I really don't mind to read spoilers for GoT, because its writing has been shit since Season 7, but with high quality entertainment like this show I'd prefer to not spoil anyone's fun.

But those three men should be international heroes, reguardless of how long they lived. Statues should be made in their honor.

If they didnt do that shit. Coulda been worse than anything we ever seen in history. I would have no qualms with that.

The spoilers on this show though...kinda general knowledge most of this stuff

No, I've read general summaries about Chernobyl, but I had no idea it was as bad as it was in the show.

The only inaccuracy I've noticed in the show, from what I've read, was the explosion was completely random and unforseen.

Actually, it was a safety check that went horribly horribly wrong. This video provides more detail.

I'd be open to the possibility that the show gets it right, and previous information we thought to be true is incorrect.

But, HBO has a history of adding/subtracting facts to serve a narrative.

Oh, and don't be so negative towards narrowly averting nuclear disaster that would have effected millions of lives.

Edgelord nihalists on the internet is such a cliche.

Lmao. I think I deleted on accident saying statues of them even in America, all over the world

Holy fuck. The writing and acting in just two episodes already blows the doors off of GoT season 8.

Tense as fuck especially when you consider we all already know the basics of the event and outcome.

watched episode 2 last night. damn, thats some greta show making, and the way it ended, bleak doesn't come close to describing it.

this show is awesome

also reminds me when i hanged around in russia as a kid and teenager

The fact they can make a real event feel so intense and depressing is a testament to the quality of the show. They did a stand up job relaying the helplessness and Soviet mismanagement due to secrecy and fear, best new show in a long time.

Chernobyl kind of reminds me of the based on a true story show the Terror, you know the end but watching the disaster unfold was really well done.

soundtrack of the show

rewatched episode 2, ending is intense (massive balls on those guys)
