No he was never good.
11 months of inactivity didn't help either.
He needed to bite down on the mouth piece and swing, but he doesn’t have that venom in his punches anymore
I completely agree, before that Izzy had that aura about him and of course the confidence that came with it, once it's gone the confidence goes with it and then the doubt seeps in allowing for more mistakes to be made. And then losing the way he lost to Strickland.. I think it's the same as Anderson..once that aura is gone, it takes a toll on the confidence
Only trunks did. Keep up bro.Izzy will say he was like Trunks and Vegeta when they bulked up too much vs Cell

Izzy much younger because Anderson was 38. It could be lifestyle tho because I see Izzy krump dancing, traveling, hanging with famous people, did a documentary movie, he got a DUI, doing sponsor related stuff. I'm sure he did train hard for this camp. The best fighters still train during the off seasons. His style of fighting does not age well. Just like Silva. Without looking it up, he might be the same age Silva was when Teh Chris smashed him.
Outstanding analysis, especially that last line. He's afraid to engage and follow through with combinations. Getting put down by Pereira and Strickland ruined him mentally. There were moments in the fight where DDP was very vulnerable and hurt, and the Izzy from 3-4 years ago would have gotten the finish instead of backing off and resetting.
Part of what made him great was the fact that he believed that winning was his destiny. In his fight against Gastelum, for example - he was ready to die for the W. This version of Izzy would have folded in the face of that kind of adversity. It's not so much that he declined physically but the fact that he's not even close to what he was mentally. Same thing that happened to Tony. Once you know for a fact that losing is an option - you start losing. It's over.
Adesanya is way older now than Max was when he lost to Volk.Every time a fighter losses, it’s always the same thread and excuses.
Adesanya looked great, he just faced a better fighter that was grittier and actually utilizes a ground game.
When Holloway lost to Volksnovski a few years ago, these same threads occurred.
Adesnaya isn’t losing to the fighters outside the top 5 or 10, he’s losing to championship caliber fighters.
