Has Maycee Barber earned your respect???

Has she earned your respect?

We watch as a form of entertainment. We don't know the fighters well enough to genuinely have respect for them. Perhaps some on the forum do have a close enough relationship with professional fighters to do so, but I think that would be a small minority. I save respect for people I know well enough to earn it.

A 4 year old child that can beat 99% of all four old children in an organized competition is good at that competition

I tried to upload the gif. It isn’t working for some reason but if you check this link below
there is slow no gif that clearly shows it was a punch and not a headbutt that dropped her

Also the ref stopped it because Ribas took TWENTY PLUS unanswered shots to the head. And the rules say you must defend yourself at all times. Go count it yourself Ribas ate a shit ton of blows before the ref intervened

She actually bumped her head going forward into Maycee's left shoulder, it gets better and better <Lmaoo>

The thing is here, that not even 0,00000000000000001% of the female population does mma. You're taking the worst physically gifted people of all time that want to lose weight that go train mma 2 times a year and they fight in the UFC lol. Doesn't make them great.

Ribas was moving and she was holding on to Barber's body and wasn't fazed or rocked. But to be fair glad it got stopped and we could move on to better fights.

I can't imagine how low your standards must be.
Not sure I understand what you are saying, Sherbro. What do my "standards" have to do with it?

I don't think that Maycee Barber will be a champion because Erin Blanchfield is more talented and a bad style matchup for her, and she's even younger than Barber.

That's like saying Sean Brady is more talented than Alex Morono.

She s good but she's not phenomenal or something. I can see her losing as well to other talented women in the division.
We are on a hype train, Sherbro.

Hype trains don't work if you have realistic expectations.

Triple champ, WMMA GOAT!!!!

Why the fuck not..

She's fighting someone on live television.. like any fighter.. i'm a fan of fighting..

Seems stupid to not respect her..

Is it the same as or as entertaining as men fighting.. nope.. but that's beyond the respect point..

Okay Maycee kinda been a laughing stock around since her embarrassing performance against Grasso, the current champ

  • But she just had an awesome fight with a bloody finish
  • She’s is on a 5- fight winstreak
  • She is now ranked in the TOP 10
  • She makes massive improvements between fights

Can the Future finally get sone respect around here??

She’s a tough birch and clearly likes to fuck people up. She’s improved immeasurably in recent times and has to considered a contender. You look at Grasso though and I still think she’s get touched up and dominated.

Yep, I was impressed with her as her striking looked vastly improved. And her approach in general seemed more measured.

Seems like she's learned that she can't just go out slugging and win based on athleticism. That won't work at the highest levels of MMA for anyone anymore. So she's getting a more refined striking game. Smart on her part as some fighters never make those improvements. She's still young so has lots of time to improve. Given her progression, if I'm her/her team, I'm looking to fight a lot more people at the Ribas level for the next 2-3 fights to help build her game. WMMA is so shallow though that she'll probably get a title shot sooner though. I think she'd be better off cementing her striking first though.

Not at all, she's my most disliked fighter on the roster.

1) She's a fake black belt clown who promoted herself as a teen blackbelt running a gracie school with her sister and dad. This pretty much flavors all of it for me, aside from coming in young and bragging shes gonna be the youngest champ ever, whatever lots of young talent feels that way.
2) She's one of the worst losers and least humble winners i've ever seen. It's hard to notice this behavior when she's on a bit of a winning streak. Her post fight after losing to Modafferi was one of the bitchiest moments in MMA history.
3) She has no self awareness. I don't know if there is a clearer 29-28 than her fight vs Maverick to point to if you wanna look at examples of obvious fights to call. I am not expecting her to say she lost the fight, but maybe not to brag "I knew I was gonna be the faster, more athletic, more elusive fighter" would've been good, especially since she was outstruck 82-38. She was outstruck in round 3 as well but clearly landed the better shots, zero issue anywhere with anyone calling that a Barber round, it was a Barber round.
4) Her win's just don't impress, although maybe that's more on women's MMA than her, but what am I supposed to respect?
Andrea Lea, coming off a loss and was 2-4 coming into the fight, this isn't really a "wow you're a couple fights from a title".
Called out Jessica Eye, who was on a 3 fight skid and had lost 4 of 5 before Barber, this was a top 10 win Lol.
Even Ribas was 2-2 and is a 115 to me, a fight that's hand built for a woman like Barber to come in and steam roll.

Now about self awareness? I recognize her last fight was fun and violent, and that there is nothing aside from becoming the champ that would get me respect for this chick. Beating someone like Fiorot, Santos, Blanchfield would get me thinking though. I am not suprised whatsoever she'd like to avoid them to fight the champ.

Not a black belt? Didn't run a school as a teen? What's the dope?
