Not at all, she's my most disliked fighter on the roster.
1) She's a fake black belt clown who promoted herself as a teen blackbelt running a gracie school with her sister and dad. This pretty much flavors all of it for me, aside from coming in young and bragging shes gonna be the youngest champ ever, whatever lots of young talent feels that way.
2) She's one of the worst losers and least humble winners i've ever seen. It's hard to notice this behavior when she's on a bit of a winning streak. Her post fight after losing to Modafferi was one of the bitchiest moments in MMA history.
3) She has no self awareness. I don't know if there is a clearer 29-28 than her fight vs Maverick to point to if you wanna look at examples of obvious fights to call. I am not expecting her to say she lost the fight, but maybe not to brag "I knew I was gonna be the faster, more athletic, more elusive fighter" would've been good, especially since she was outstruck 82-38. She was outstruck in round 3 as well but clearly landed the better shots, zero issue anywhere with anyone calling that a Barber round, it was a Barber round.
4) Her win's just don't impress, although maybe that's more on women's MMA than her, but what am I supposed to respect?
Andrea Lea, coming off a loss and was 2-4 coming into the fight, this isn't really a "wow you're a couple fights from a title".
Called out Jessica Eye, who was on a 3 fight skid and had lost 4 of 5 before Barber, this was a top 10 win Lol.
Even Ribas was 2-2 and is a 115 to me, a fight that's hand built for a woman like Barber to come in and steam roll.
Now about self awareness? I recognize her last fight was fun and violent, and that there is nothing aside from becoming the champ that would get me respect for this chick. Beating someone like Fiorot, Santos, Blanchfield would get me thinking though. I am not suprised whatsoever she'd like to avoid them to fight the champ.
