Has Jon Jones TDD been tested?

Not really.

Cormier or Cain would be a real test for his TDD.

Edit: Jones is a wrestler so his TDD is decent at the least.

Rashad Evans is one of the best at transitioning from striking to takedowns and he couldn't get Jon Jones down. Not to mention facing good wrestlers in Matt Hamill and Ryan Bader and Jones ragdolled them. Who would've known that having 100% TDD (which is the best TDD in the entire UFC) against some of the toughest competition was known as "decent".

Almost every one of his pre ufc bouts he had repeatedly futilely tried to be taken down

But he's been taken down in his life before.

Surely you're a lion.

No you're a lion ! Where is your proof huh ? Until you show me a video or gif of him being taken down then I will believe!

His TDD is excellent, there is a reason the best MMA wreslter he's faced didn't even try to take him down. Rashad knew from years of training together that it wasn't an option.

Sonnen's TDD is average or slightly above average. Expect to see him on his back for as long as the fight lasts.

Agree with almost every thing you said, but I'm not sure that they trained together for "years". Either way, rashad knew that it would probably end up with him on his back getting elbowed or choked out. Or both?

That is just terribly impressive. He didn't miss a beat on that sprawl.

Rashad most likely didn't try to take Jones down more than 1 or 2 times he tried because of possibly 2 things.

1. He knows how hard it is to take Jones down and multiple attempts would just gas himself out.

2. Jones knew Rashad was going to try to take him down and had counter measures just waiting for Rashad to make an attempt.

I'm sure Sonnen knows the countless hours Jones is going to dedicate to his training for their fight on just wrestling and is planing to keep it standing.

I'm willing to bet my house that you won't bet a lick on chael beating Jones. You'll hope with every ounce of your body but you have no real "money where your mouth is" faith.

This is funny. I'd be willing to bet

I do remember one of his early, Pre-UFC, fights involving his opponent, repeatedly, trying to get him down.

He was also punched in the face regularly in earlier fights, UFC and otherwise.

Jones ragdolling Hammil was the only thing that was impressive

Hammil and Bader are not great offensive wrestlers

Hammil was

1/6 on takedowns vs Franklin
2/9 on takedowns vs Jardine
0/17 on takedowns vs Rampage
0/6 on takeowns vs Gustafsson

And Baders takedowns looked very crappy against Lil Nog and Jardine. And Jones was literally the first guy to attempt a takedown on Bader, for all we know Baders TDD could be worse then Mark Munoz's

People might think its a joke fight, and I'd agree Chael probably shouldn't be getting the shot; but Chael will 100% test Bones TDD.

Chael will do no worse vs Bones than anyone has done in the past. I think Chael may even steal a round.

Hashad didn't even come close. And that really says something.
