peaked a loooooong time ago and downhill since the early 2000s. after 2000 or 2001, like in 2002 the industry took a weird turn and the oscars started coming out with weak stuff, then more weak then they went woke and turned into a huge joke.

and everything's filmed on blue screens and barebones sets with no care about lighting then "fixed" in post production. no wonder they all look like shitty tv commercials.

streaming services ruined things too, where their entire job is churning out content in bulk on an assembly line with no care for quality.

Shit is depressing.

cheap ass pornos with no budgets from the 80s legit look better than the "HD" shit hollywood pushes these days lol.

even if the 80s look was crap by many standards, they had a real world feel to them. real lighting, real houses, real sets with real outdoor scenery made by real pros. now, everything looks polished to death and created in a lab. you can see the tiniest details in crystal clear HD, leaving nothing to the imagination, or you get dull washed out blurry images (the bad kind) like the stuff in your pic. truly awful.

when you look at new york from the 70s or 80s, it was clearly filmed with a potato but i don't see every detail and it makes me feel that there's a whole other giant world out there waiting to get experienced. it wasn't overly exposed like today's garbage.

And lets not forget about writing. the 60s 70s 80s 90s even the early 2000's the film making was better. A major reason is the scripts. You had to have a good script to get a movie made. Todays writing is so bad that when there is a decent movie it feels good. The percentage of bad films today is greater than good films. This is a horrible time for film making with a few exceptions.

i have a bridge to sell you if you think this wasn’t also the case in the 60s, 70s, 80s, & 90s

another decent video on the devaluation of cinema. ignore the irony of the AI slop voiceover, i hate it too.

I’m sorry, but how the fuck is a Jem’Hadar in the federation? Especially when all they’ve been making are prequels?
And how are they suddenly female, and suddenly having offspring with Klingons, when it was clearly stated in Trek lore they were all male, couldn't reproduce, and were created and genetically engineered for the express purpose to fight and die for the Dominion?

It's just so fucking dumb.

Yeah, WTF? What show was that? There are no female Jem’Hadar because they’re cloned. Even babies know that.

That is really disappointing.
I thought what u saw of Discovery was very good, despite leaning on alternate universes way, way too much.
I didn’t much like Picard. But it was fucking Shakespeare compared to the one episode of Strange New Worlds I saw.

Idk, I am hard to please. Plus I’m just old now.

I haven't liked anything since JarJar Abrams and his acolytes were put in charge of the franchise. Thematically, stylistically, and tonally it's a completely different franchise. People cussing, disrespecting their commanding officers, emotional outbursts (even Spock!), it all goes against what was laid down by Gene Roddenberry and later continued by Rick Berman.

Star Trek ended with Enterprise.

It all depends how you make a movie , today most use digital compositing instead of raw effects ,real fire , smoke , explosions, wrecks etc etc . The 80”s in particular had superior camera angles to make a specific shot perfectly fit the exact moment where a zoom in intensified the scene and far better dialogue and score backgrounds made those movies superior overall with the right actors for the most part .

Movies are more dumbed down today for the dumb downed audience to make a quick Buck ( that’s just in general ) some movies today would’ve have been possible however back in those days like many marvel movies , almost all of them in fact outside ines like Daredevil and Captain America where we seen the quality of that one alongside Masters of The Universe they just weren’t going to be good unlike today bc of technology .

Most of the actual good movies aren’t actually in the spotlight they are the independent ones , less popular bc they a don’t have to do generic films they have more freedom from ratings and an editing butchering process which ruins many good movies that’s why you rarely a great horror movie on big screen anymore and restrictions overall prevent movies to be made the way the writer wanted by stricter standards .
