Has anyone else lost interest in UFC/MMA , possible to regain it?

Do you consider LW too small? The average LW is bigger than the average man. Or is it something else?

One day when you get bored you should watch Conors entire FW title run. And pretty much every single Gaethje fight.

Gaethje is one of the only guys in the sport that truly lives kill or be killed.
Yeah too small, but for a long time also there weren’t hardly any finishes in the lower classes besides subs.
Used to be a lot of rock um sock um robots without really any damage happening.

today’s lw’s with better weight cutting are Damn near if not bigger than most of what used to be at 170.

plus the fall of 55 when they did always with it and it was only in wec etc kinda took my sights off it.

I did used to watch a few Bj and Pulver and gomi fights but not a lot.

I was a huge fan from 2006 onwards but started losing steam big time around 2012-2014. From 2015 onward I stopped watching TUF altogether and would only catch about four PPV cards a year, which number has now dropped to about two per year.

I would say if people have a preference for higher weight classes its not really much to do with the "average man" but more the sense of tension the bigger men bring knowing that a single shot could end a fight more easily.

Really MMA in the mid 00's was run around HW and LHW more than anything else, espeically in Pride and it is pretty amazing to consider just how much happened in a relatively short space of time in those divisions. I mean the absolute peak of Pride was probably 03-06 and those 4 years have so many big HW and LHW fights that are still talked about, the UFC had a few as well.
Yea I could understand someone feeling that way I guess. To me tho LW is the most interesting class in the sport because it has the highest talent pool by far. And even if they arent the biggest dudes in the world they are still plenty big enough to beat the shit out of your average 7 foot tall basketball player or some genetic freak

LW has always been one of the most fun divisions to watch even back in the day it was clearly the best division besides the top 2 but honestly I think HW in the Pride era was still some of the highest skill levels we've ever seen at the top.

I mean Khabib is rightly hyped today but to me Fedor was as dangerous a grappler AND an elite MMA striker.

Girl, wrong forum.

But yes... It pretty much fluctuates. I was big into it in 2013; we had amazing fights like Ronda beating up soccer moms, I saw Silva snap his shin live, Jon Jones was fighting the Viking, and Mighty Mouse was dominating his division.

I got busy with grad school and it wasn't as interesting in 2014, although I watched here and there. Then my interest picked up again after 2015, Holly demolished the Wicked Witch of the West and Conor gave us exciting fights.

Nowadays, not much of interest is going on. Jon Jones can't stay out of trouble for more than 5 minutes... Conor retired, Cormier retired, Ngannou was pretty exciting but didn't do well once he got to the top... Izzy, as much of a douche as he is, is filling Conor's niche of the cocky but talented fighter who hypes of up fights. My hope is to see him and Jon square off soon.

No argument here there will never be another Fedor. Speed and reflexes of FW but hit like a mac truck.

If you arent hyped for Khabib vs Gaethje you were never a true fan to begin with
You can't use a blanket statement like that. I've been watching since UFC 2 and have also lost interest over the past few years. I used to watch every show but rarely catch anything outside of highlights these days. It's a good fight but I'm not exactly excited about it.

But it is objectively incorrect to not be excited about it

That's like not being excited about a 5 star meal when you havent eaten in a week

Machida is in Bellator winding down his career (miss the unique style of the dragon)
Rampage is fat and cashes checks
Chuck and tito both in the mma grave
Shogun doesnt have a knee left to stand on
Up and comers like Erik Silva fissled
Anderson's mystik is gone
Conner was kinda cool but ughhh
The best fighter is some lanky dude whose got the problems of rampage but none of the charisma.
There was just no fighters that had any cool factor, no matter how they were pushed.
Romero is just top of the hill of who has the best cycle.
It's just borimg doesnt have the cool factor anymore.

I've lost interest in most sports, except for the occasional mma or boxing event..I was a big sports fan growing up but as I get older just really don't care anymore.

I've been into martial arts & combat sports for the vast majority of my life, so I'm a die-hard. I haven't missed a major boxing match in decades & the only UFCs that I've missed were back in the dark ages. And then I got DirectTV after missing a couple of events due to the cable blackout & I've been watching steadily ever since.

I've had favorite fighters that I've loved & that I've been gutted to see go. But I've never been so emotionally invested in any of them to the point that I've felt like abandoning the sport when they've fallen off dramatically or retired. For me, it's just always been onto the next generation of fighters. So, I don't quite get the folks who've felt compelled to do so. But to each their own. My being a loyalist to combat sports doesn't make me superior to those individuals. I simply have different priorities, that's all.

As for the modern era where we have a card a week from the UFC, I, not surprisingly, love it. And I love the ESPN deal. My only complaint with about it is that they've been scheduling the UFC events opposite the boxing cards too often for my liking of late. I don't like having to choose between the two.

I was obessed from around 2007-2013 but since then I just kind of keep up with the really big fights and occasionally catch up on stuff Ive missed

I’ve never lost interest in it. But they make it so fucking hard to watch now. Now I have so subscribe to ESPN plus streaming service, even if my tv subscription already has ESPN. And on top of that, I still have to pay more for the entire fight card of any big fight. I can’t do all that right now, so that just have to read about the fights. And it does kind of kill your interest.

It's not the same thing at all. You need to eat. You don't need to watch mma.

If you've lost interest in the sport then fights just don't have the same excitement as they used to.

I get ya I'm just joking around and personally stupid excited for that fight. Counting down the hours until "And NEW"!

I havent missed a "big" fight in over 15 years. I have however started skipping some of the shitty cards that have fighters I've never heard of with terrible records. Will tune in for the main event but do other things for the uninspiring fights. This never used to be the case in past years but it's happening a good bit the last year or so

I don't even check the heavies hardly at all anymore. There isn't even anything entertaining going on in there these days.

I'll tune in to watch Gaethje, Ferguson and a couple other guys but that's it these days. I just don't understand how the UFC went from having dozens of interesting fighters to just this blanket of no names that encompass every card. The LHW division alone back in the day with Rampage, Shogun and those guys had more draws than the entire UFC and Bellator rosters do combined these days. I'm not sure if it's marketing or fighting styles or if I've just lost interest and wouldn't recognize an exciting up and comer anyway.

They had interesting personalities and charisma

Chuck the biker looking ko guy

Tito orangutan looking wrestler

Rampage the muscular black guy

Forrest that hard worker no talent guy

Wanderlei just swing type of dude

Franklin the math teacher

Shogun the pride champ

Not to mention undefeatable russian machine fedor

Nowadays everyone is really similar

Pride is gone and nothing will ever replace it.

UFC used to desperately try to get their top fighters on the cards. They used to try to make their cards as best as possible.

Now they give us the lowest possibly quality of card they can get away with.

Top guys used to fight much more often too.

I've lost a lot of interest.

I only care about the big fight, or if I'm going to bet on a fight.
