Hard truths that people don't want to hear about Gane

Sherdog resident experts said he’s overrated and has a terrible, ground game, well then… that’s a wrap, he should move on to something different career wise, no use wasting his time on MMA.

He lost to ONE KNEE Francis by getting wrestled to oblivion and totally Quit against Jones. He barely beat Tuivasa. Also do you people forget that Gane got ko'd on the feet by Ngannou in Sparring? Even Gane did not deny it, but tried to play it down that he was only rocked by Francis when they sparred. And last but not least, watch the training footage between him and MW striker Imavov, he gets take down at will by Imavov all the time.

Still a mystery what people see in Gane, he doesn't bring anything to the table other than a Jab and footwork.

having a jab and footwork has gotten him to 2 title shots. you don't have to see much in him in order for him to be an elite HW. it's HW. how did he barely beat Tai? he KO'd him. he didn't get wrestled to oblivion by Ngannou, he was winning a fight and made a single mistake that cost him the fight. vs Jon i agree, he had zero resistance. he got KO'd in sparring by Ngannou? is that embarrassing? Ngannou thrashed Tyson Fury in boxing. i have no comment on his sparring vs Imavov because i didn't see.

he brings a lot to the table for a HW. movement, cardio, speed, diverse striking, and better defense than "i have an iron chin and i'm not afraid to use it" that is common at HW. if you were expecting to see some Fedor-esque type of HW, those days are long gone. we're in the era of the ogres, where the majority of HWs are good because they either have ridiculous power, an unreal chin, or both. so if there is anyone who has a style and attributes that deviate from that meta, it brings a different look that is harder to defeat. Aspinall, Gane, and Jailton all deviate from that meta and look how successful they are.

Seems like a guy who gets by on talent. Doesn't strike me as someone who really has the heart to be a champion

Like a Germaine De Ramedie

You obviously have an issue with Gane. It’s getting bad. Go outside, breathe some fresh air, pick another topic.

You'd see many threads like this about Francis if he stayed to get his ass kicked by Jones too

He is a glorified point fighter
So you missed the beating he put on his last opponent. Also the beating he put on Lewis.

In your efforts of shitting on Gane you exposed yourself as a filthy casual

Here is another hard truth: Aspinall has not beaten any of the guys who beat Gane and he lost to lesser opponents.

12 wins in his career, 8 before the limit, including his last three ones, logically against the best fighters.... well better resume than most fighters, even the top ranked ones.....

oh and even in muay thai, he has 13 wins, 9 before the limit.

there are KO finishers, submission specialists and point fighters. Some of the fighters are able to master several ways of winning a fight.

Gane makes opponents want to quit, that's his thing, that's his style, and i find it very impressive to see most of the time.

Barely beat tuivasa ? If my memory serves me correctly, outisde of one punch that momentarily Sat him down, gane bear the breaks off of him. It was brutal.
He's more of a volume guy put he still packs enough power to hurt and he's pretty accurate

Hes had 14 fights and only lost to the best HW in the world and the best fighter of all time. Both times he lost when they targeted his biggest weakness, one he's trying to remedy every day he trains.
He admits that he doesn't train much, so...

He moves around a lot to not be taken down & wants to counter punch. Not exciting, but ufc need to have him to help fill the HW roster.
He doesnt really counter punch that much though, I think his big weakness is he lacks the one shot counter power to keep people off of him.

To be honest when the striking gets aggressive and close in he's always looked technically dodgy to me, gets very wild.

I've never heard that, admittedly I just watch fights nowadays and have dispensed with the cesspool that is the vast majority of MMA media.

If he's being honest, that's disappointing. Dude has a chance to be very good, maybe even great with some work.

At the end of the day, all I want from professional fighters is for them to be the best they can. I've had numerous "I coulda been a contender" talks with aged fighters. I hate seeing guys set themselves up for that post career regret.

He lost the Ngannou fight the moment he went for the leg lock, would've won if not for that moment.

Stfu he looked amazing vs Thai. Almost got beat, he got caught with 1 punch and put on a brutal clinic.

Welcome to sherdog hw section. The #3 UFC HW is not good. Coming from us.

Hes obviously got some degree of weakness to grappling but to be fair on paper Spivac should have tested him in that department and failed miserably, perhaps because Spivac was just too slow and sluggish to be able to close distance effectively.

Striking wise, hes probably the most technical striker we've ever seen at HW.
