Gus is so underrated it's ridiculous

How can Gus be underrated when he is ranked 2-3 while having Shogun as his top win. Tito has a much better top win - Bader.

Diaz has a chin (Jk). I don't think people dislike Gus as much as they dislike his fans. Ts is a perfect example.

Gus started acting like his fans though. He was humble and accepted his close losses after the fights. Now he claims he was robbed just like his idiot fans do.

The guy beat Jones pretty much and got robbed. He then barely lost to DC and could have easily won that fight if he tried a bit harder. I think it's ridiculous they expect him to fight this Jan guy when he comes back, he should be rematching Rumble IMO. He needs to avenge his losses and then get a shot at the title.

Him and Frankie Edgar are the most overlooked guys in the UFC

He needs to move up to HW.

He controlled Manuwa the entire first round and proceeded to knock him out in the second, breaking his unbeaten record.... Yeah why the fuck didn't he impress you more? damn noob needs to work on his striking game... Your name almost suits you.

Knocked him out after sticking his finger in Manuwa's eyes. I think he would have won without it but just saying. If that was Jones, everyone would be saying that was the only reason he won. Gus actually has more eye pokes leading to finishes than Jones does.

This was the best one though:

Jones doesn't have the power to finish people, so you're argument is lacking heavily there.

And no, he didn't knock Manuwa out right after the eye poke, go watch the fight again you troll.

Well I think he's just playing the game. Unfortunately running your mouth is the only way to get big fights these days. Gus already got gifted a title shot now the he has to work other angles to get what he wants.

Actually he lost all 3 of them fair & square, even if you think the scorecards were wrong against Jones he still definitely didn't beat DC or Rumble.

Rumble fight you can't argue with, the Jones fight he clearly won, I've watched it probably 20 times and I think it's clear he won rounds 1,2,3 and dominated jones for about 4 minutes in round 4 before getting hurt (although he never got dropped so I'm kinda torn scoring that one, but leaning mostly towards Jones).

DC fight he lost 3-2 but almost knocked him out.

Overrated? Hell no. Underrated? To a certain extent.

There was a brief stoppage in the opening stages of the second round, as Manuwa received an accidental poke to the eye. On the restart, Gustafsson immediately pushed into a clinch, where a well-placed knee stunned his opponent. A series of pinpoint hooks then sealed the deal, as Manuwa crashed to the canvas, and the big Swede followed with more strikes on the canvas, forcing referee Marc Goddard to call off the fight at the 1:18 mark of the second frame.

Go hump someone else's leg, nuthugger.

4-1 in the DC fight, apart from the knee he spent most of the night getting mauled in the clinch and turning his back and running.

Lmfao, are you retarded? Go watch the fight again like I told you, around 4,20 in round 2, Manuwa gets poked and takes his time to recover, 3,47 is where they clinch and Gustafsson lands his knee. Manuwa almost landed a hard right overhand after he recovered from the eye poke as well.

Nice try though, completely wrecked.

The only round Gus won was round 1 against jones.
Props for a mediocre fighter making two better fighters work, but that doesn't mean that he automatically gets their accomplishments added to his own tiny list.

There are actual European champs now. You guys don't need to keep pretending that Gus is something that he's not.

I don't think he's overrated or under-rated. He has all the prerequisites necessary to be a champ, but he doesn't use the best game plans or keep the wind in his sail in the later rounds.

He wasn't robbed against Jones, but it that spinning elbow wasn't as big of a game changer as people like to pretend it was: It wasn't even a knock down, it landed cleanly (and seeing it live it felt like Jones had him on the ropes forever, but re-watching the fight it was just for a short time), but it wasn't like Jones landed a bunch of offense afterwards. I wouldn't, in good conscious, call the fight for Gus, but I think it was more of a draw than a Jone's victory.

He lost against Rumble, but had a much better fight against DC than Rumble had. He says he shored up some holes in his game a while ago, and with the way that MMA has been working lately, with late career resurgence of perennial top 10's who've turned into champs (Alvarez, Bisping, RDA, Robbie), I won't doubt him out of hand.

The Jan fight is a good comeback fight, then, provided he wins either OSP or Glover.

"if he tried a little harder he would have beaten DC"

HAHAHAHA. Gus wilted in both fights against Jon and DC. Guess what, champions dont wilt in the biggest fights of their lives. Gus couldn't "try harder." Gus did not become champion because he does not have the champion spirit that someone like JJ or DC has.

somewhat meaning looking for reasons to give a round to Gus.

So the round where Gus dropped DC and almost finished him shouldn't count, not the round where he took him down twice either and neither one of the fighters did any really damage.

Got you.

LOL I've seen it, moron. Gus poked him in the eye, Manuwa was hurt got a rest period and was still rubbing his eye after. It changed the course of the fight. Gus got the finish a minute later.

By the way, Gus has never finished a top contender. Manuwa was barely ranked in the top 10 when he fought Gus. Gus has already had the most undeserved title fight in history. Even Hendo will be coming off a win against Bisping. Gus couldn't even say that when he fought DC.

Gus is severely overrated. Here's a test: Name his top 10 wins...
