There it is with it's big brother

I was thinking about picking up a handgun recently. I live in Canada and you can't carry a gun, you can only store it to and from a range. What would you guys recommend? I'm thinking probably a 9mm. I have smaller hands also. I've heard good things about the CZ75 and also the S&W M&P 9mm.

Good choices, I'd also check out other CZs like the P01, P07, and especially the SP-01. Imo the M&Ps have a horrendous trigger it's just so ugh.

I have a lot of CZ's, one of my fav's is the Phantom.

Lightweight, low recoil and 19rd mags.

I changed the hammer spring and made the trigger awesome in 5 minutes, 1.5mm fiber optic front and tactical rear make for a GREAT site picture.

Also, look at the EAA Witness, they are CZ clones and VERY good for a great price as well.
The single action only Match model is $550 an shoots like a 2k custom pistol.

If you can find a range that has rentals, try to shoot a few choices before deciding.
I cannot stress enough how much that can help.

Things like this only happen in America...

''I've noticed there's too much violence going on. What should we do?''

''I have an idea. Let's allow anyone with a passport to buy a gun.''

''Awesome idea. So how can they get a license?''

''License? Why the fuck would we teach them how to shoot or how to defend yourself, where to aim or how to help someone who's been shot? If someone calls you an asshole, you defend yourself! We're 'muricans, damnit!''

It's even dumber than being pot illegal (for the record: I don't smoke pot or anything else).

You are an idiot. Not just anyone with a passport can buy a gun. You have to pass an FBI background check. Then to carry it you need to take a class, prove you know what you're doing, then pass a background check through your local PD, county Sheriff, get fingerprinted, then take those prints to your state's FBI field office and have them run to make sure you're not in the system and they don't match any unsolved crimes. Then you pay a couple hundred bucks and you get a license. If you pull a gun without your life in jeopardy, you catch a felony for brandishing a firearm and you lose your license and can't even own guns anymore.

hahaha lol I trolled you!

But I will say this seriously: I think it's absurd that people are allowed to carry guns that kill people in a heartbeat.

Wouldn't recommend it for carry just based on the conical bullet. Conical rounds tend to go right through the body at CCW distances. If you can find the frangibles that basically powder in the body you might be ok, but the 5.7mm doesn't have a lot of knockdown power. Personally, I don't recommend anything smaller than 9mm for CCW.

So just the gangbangers and criminals should have them, right? Because, you know, no one should have the right to defend their life, right?

i read they tumble and leave a wound channel as big as a .45 in ballistics gell might have read wrong though

Those are good choices... I was down to a Glock 17 or a CZ p01 for my first gun. I shot about everything to determine this. The CZ wasn't available.

Go try everything that you can get your hands on.

1963 WASR 10/63. Unfired when I got it, maybe 60 rounds through it so far. AK74 muzzle brake drilled to .390" for 7.62 round, Hogue pistol grip.

Very nice. I've got the underfolder model. About to put the ERGO grip on it.

Sorry, but you are quite wrong.
The 5.7 round is prone to tumbling when it hits it's target, also an FMJ will have more penetration capabilities than the 5.7 round.
The most common 5.7 round available has a polymer tip that causes expansion upon impact.
If you decided to carry it, you would have 20+1 rounds of ultra-low recoil bullets traveling at over 2000 fps
I have carried mine plenty and have NO reservations about it.
If you like I can provide links to this information.

And as for "knockdown power", it is a pointless myth and only applies the the biggest calibers out there.

It is called shot placement and practice

With certain rounds, yes

Here 'ya go

The truth is, the whole idea of handgun knockdown power is a myth. It simply doesn’t work that way. The FBI report further clarifies:
A bullet simply cannot knock a man down. If it had the energy to do so, then equal energy would be applied against the shooter and he too would be knocked down. This is simple physics, and has been known for hundreds of years. The amount of energy deposited in the body by a bullet is approximately equivalent to being hit with a baseball. Tissue damage is the only physical link to incapacitation within the desired time frame, i.e., instantaneously. (2)

The report cites previous studies that have calculated bullet velocities and impact power, concluding that the “stopping power” of a 9mm bullet at muzzle velocity is equal to a one-pound weight being dropped from the height of six feet. A .45 ACP (45 auto) bullet impact would equal that same object dropped from 11.4 feet. That is a far cry from what Hollywood would have us believe, and actually flies in the face of what even many in law enforcement have come to mistakenly believe.

The FBI report also emphasizes that unless the bullet destroys or damages the central nervous system (i.e., brain or upper spinal cord), incapacitation of the subject can take a long time, seemingly longer if one is engaged in a firefight.

Failing a hit to the central nervous system, massive bleeding from holes in the heart or major blood vessels of the torso, causing circulatory collapse is the only other way to force incapacitation upon an adversary, and this takes time. For example, there is sufficient oxygen within the brain to support full, voluntary action for 10-15 seconds after the heart has been destroyed. (3)
More often than not, an officer firing at a suspect will not immediately know if he or she has even struck the target. The physics are such that the body will rarely involuntarily move or jerk, and usually there is no noticeable spewing of blood or surface tearing of tissue. Often there is no blood whatsoever. (4) That is why military surgeons and emergency room physicians take great time and pains to carefully examine gunshot victims for any additional small holes. Often that is the only indication the person has been shot
