Law Gun and Gun Control News/Discussion

This kid is such a tool . . .

But of course we know no debate with any experts will happen . . .

OT, thiking about buying a new gun for having fun at the range. Am thinking about the savage semiauto .22LR. Just a nice small firearm.

Anyone have any of these 22s? keep in mind I am in Canada so no fuly autos or AR type.

I don't own a Savage, but if you can compare it to a Ruger 10/22 I think you might be happier with the Ruger.

Interesting thread . . . see how the gun control argument has changed recently. Just over the last few months since the Bruen decision.

@SammyPops

The thing about the Ruger 10/22 in Canada, is that their magazine capacity has been essentially capped at 10 rounds, if that matters to you. Whereas other non-restricted, rimfire firearms do not have a magazine capacity limit.

Back on topic, here in Canada:

Other semi-automatic rimfires don't have magazine capacity limits? So like a tube fed Marlin 60 would be just fine?

I see every country has those "experts" . . . yikes.

Savage makes some nice stuff. I have one of their bolt action 22’s for taking the kids shooting. Never messed with any of their semi auto stuff. If you can acquire it I’m not sure much beats a Ruger 10/22 honestly. I have one of their (Ruger) Mark IV 22LR pistols with a 2lb Volquartsen trigger that is absolute magic to shoot. You wont be disappointed in the savage so take my Ruger fan boy post here with a grain of salt.

Even in America getting full autos is basically a non starter, a basic bitch M16 is gonna be 25k USD an Uzi 15k USD, they’re basically unobtainium here.

plus you need a class 4 license and the weapon must be built prior 1986.

Wayne Lapierre and David Hogg would probably be really good friends; they’re overpaid idiots that spout lies, act like they know something and are nothing but grifters operating off people’s fears.

I know nobody that’s pro 2A that like La Pierre that isn’t in their 60s and probably thinks Charlton Heston is still president

There was a time when we could have drum mags in 10/22s, the Charger fucked that up because it's a pistol, which is classified as a "restricted firearm" (pistol).

Not to buy one on a form 4 . . . FFLs need their SOT license and pay the annual fees in addition to their regular FFL fees to sell NFA items. As I understand it, the license requirements come into play for post-86 items that are only legally allowed to be possessed by dealers, military and police.

Here are the requirements for owning a machine gun, or an automatic weapon, in the United States:

  • Must not be classified as a “prohibited person.”
  • Be at least 21 years of age to purchase a machine gun from the current owner.
  • Be a legal resident of the United States.
  • Be legally eligible to purchase a firearm.
  • Pass a BATFE background check with a typical process time of 8 to 10 months.
  • Pay a one-time $200 transfer tax. (You’ll need a stamp for each machine gun.)

They're both grifters . . . so I'm sure they'd get along. Regardless, if Hogg really wants to debate there are quite a few other folks who would be much more qualified to discuss the legalities.

Federal Judge Blocks ATF Frame/Receiver Rule

A federal judge in Texas has granted a preliminary injunction against the federal government’s enforcement of the final rule regarding partially manufactured firearm parts and kits in a case known as VanDerStok v. Garland, which challenged the authority of the Justice Department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to regulate items that are not firearms, as if they were firearms.

Hilariously, Illinois lawyers attempted to argue that the second amendment only applied to single shot muskets in their defense of the latest illinois assault weapon ban attempt

Judge struck it down an unconstitutional finding that it violates the equal protection and special legislation clauses of the Illinois Constitution.

Won't be the last this law is in court, now there's debate on if this strike down is state wide or only applies to the direct plaintiffs

They have no shame and are grasping at straws.
