Law Gun and Gun Control News/Discussion

He's implying that folks won't undergo a background check when buying a gun because of "permit less" carry. He's also implying that criminals won't carry if whatever he wants to implement is put in place. It's a pathetic attempt to push the same stupid gun control narrative.

Criminals don't honor permit or purchase requirements . . . you know this . . .

What percentage of gun crime is with a permit less gun user? Seems like much of the crime is done by people with legally owned guns.

You can find numbers as easy I can . . . . if you're actually interested feel free to take a look here for some info on how concealed-carry laws impact crime.

Where are you pulling that info from? Story after story on many of the recent shootings have pretty clearly indicated whether the criminal was a prohibited possessor or not. Most of the time they were legally prohibited from carrying.

He really believes that the average criminal in this country has a carry permit. <Lmaoo>

I feel like the culture in the 80's had a lot of people admiring mass murder. Stuff like the uni-bomber or "going postal" as a good way of lashing out on people who made you miserable. I feel like today's climate of actualized mass shootings somehow comes from the way people talked like they admired it in the 80s. I could be wrong though. Anyone else remember it that way?

Yeah, all the "youths" in Chicago who shoot each other day in and day out buy their guns legally <{outtahere}>
Lil (insert name here) bought his modified mac-10 w/ extendo clip at Walmart.

Sure but most mass shootings are part of domestic violence. In other words, they involve a past or current interment partner.

Really though, let's be honest: The problem is men, we make up almost all of the shooters.

So your theory is that owning and carrying a gun around makes you more safe?

I thought the statistics (you seem to like stats) were pretty clear that having a gun in the home means that someone living there was more likely to be shot?

This idea that more people with guns will make things safer seem exactly like what we have been trying to do yet the shootings keep increasing. When do the more guns start to lower shooting deaths?

It does . . . . when handled correctly.

And? This is like saying a driving car means you're more likely to be involved in a wreck or get a speeding ticket.

What's your reason for even posting here? Is your theory that permit-less carry means that criminals will suddenly start to carry a weapon? That they wouldn't have otherwise?

To engage in meaningful discourse.

Seriously, we keep adding more guns to the mix and shootings go up. When do you think the more guns will actually help?

From his butt

EDIT: Adjusted the thread title to something that works better than the original.

Sorry if there is another thread for this type of discussion already . . . I looked through 3-4 pages of posts in the WR and didn't see one this would fit in.

This is just another example of a stupid politician lying to push their gun control plan. How anyone can take this Cicilline guy serious at anything is beyond me.

Amazingly, legislators who are fervently advocating for a strict gun ban don't bother to educate themselves; instead, they simply follow their party's agenda.

I remember things turning after this movie came out

Before this film 95% of gun shows were hunting rifles, competition rifles, sporting shotguns, Revolvers and bullseye 45s. Throw in 5% Army Surplus stuff with Ar15s, AKs, etc.

With in a couple years seemed like every po-dunk police dept, suddenly needed a SWAT Team with MP5s. Black outfits, tactical this and that really became a selling point.

Perception of shooting and gun ownership noticeably started to shift.

Now there could have been other things, but that specific film seemed to get an incredible amount of play and sway with the American gun culture Think of the 80s survivalist guys who started dressing like SAS.

It helped sell a lot of Soldier of Fortune Magazines too I'll bet.

It propelled on from there. Now guns shows seem like 95% military shit. Bunch of morons srewing shit on the side of their AR15s calling it a build!

Add in more movies over the years, more video games, the 4H rimfile clubs started thinning out. After a while the competitive shooting side of gun ownership in America began to shrink, kids got more interested in other shit, so when they did think about guns, what became more predominant was the ARs, AKs, etc that got more coverage, (be it pro or con).

Violent crime has been trending down for the last decade or so. Go check out r/dgu if you want to see how often guns have been actually helping.

That movie looks like a real fever dream.

That movie looks like a real fever dream.

It was team awesome in its day!

In America it was called: "The Final Option!"

Pretty plain now. 1981 when I saw it, (at a drive in!)

Checkout the precision, this is how you practice isn't it?
