I have watched a lot of shitty anime, so I must disagree. Much of the genre of anime opening/closing sequence music consists of studio guitarists wailing out ridiculously overelaborate prog arpeggios over a synthetic double bass drum line. Somewhat hilariously, this often is combined with some squeaky girl singing lyrics about blasting off into the stars or some nonsense, ending with a garbled English statement like "Might be Love Forevarrrr," or a voiceover talking about next week's episode as the volume is dropped. Here's a basic example of this painful genre, although this one has less arpeggiation than most:

Outside of otaku anime fans and metal guitarists, everybody else in the real world basically hates this style of music.
