**GSP confirms contract negotiations with UFC**

There is absolutely no point for him to go anywhere else. What is he really going to do in Bellator? There are a handful of WW that could have a competitive fight with him and none of them are in Bellator or anywhere else.
fantasizing a little on my part as the UFC has gotten so powerful-Reebok deal.... would like to see a little challenge to ito_OGSP is a big enough name to challenge the UFC a bit

GSP just needs to use his life long love of Paleontology, his fear of Aliens and his career in MMA and combine them to work with Giorgio Tsoukalos and Joe Rogan to find our ancient overlords still living among us, super man punch them in the face and smother them for 25 minutes each.

They DID just announce that the new Indiana Jones movie is going to continue the storyline from Crystal Skull.
- aliens
- archeology
- fistfights

Sounds like a match made in heaven to me.

Good Lord, could you imagine a reality series like Bigfoot Hunters, but with Joe, Giorgio and George roadtriping around the world looking for Aliens and talking to "alien abductees"?

I would watch it!

get ready for massive butthurt when GSP 50-45s Robbie Lawler. Then the same people who were asking him to comeback will be begging him to leave because he's "boring".

I HOPE the Co Main is Lawler /GSP.

THAT would be epic.

If I was advising GSP...No Conor for fight at 200? You should fight somewhere else. No Lawler.....noooooo.

Why? Because his wrestling inst going to work and the whole time he's grabbing onto a leg Lawler is going to be crushing his whole face and head. Elbows...punches...just wrecked.

So you want WW title fight with returning GSP as CO main event under Conor vs Diaz rematch HJAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAahaAHaaAHAAhAAHAHAHaHAA

I've been saying for nearly a year that if he came back it would mean them agreeing to allow him to wear Underarmor and/or pay him a LOT more from Reebok.

Don't hold your breath guys. I think he went public to help his cause in the negotiating room. GSP was babied back in the day because they needed him (didn't have to sign the same merchandising contract as every other fighter) but now they have Connor and Ronda.

im guessing he is trying to negotiate higher salary that he would be out of without his sponsors,
there is no chance the UFC excludes him from the Reebok deal

In all honesty I could care a less about seeing him fight and I have a feeling most people who want to see him fight never saw "prime" GSP. Although the one thing I can't stand in mma more than watching GSP fight is that goddamn reebok deal that doesn't benefit fighters at all and is clearly all kick backs for Dana and the boys, whilst making it even harder for fighters to make good money.

Not likely. He gets half a million to show already and PPV points. He doesn't need money. For GSP it will be about brand loyalty. He wants to fight for Underarmor and he has a pretty good case for it. He doesn't have the same merchandising agreement in place as other fighters. The problem is that if Reebok doesn't relent it might have to play out in court and by then the comeback dream is gone.

if thats the case, he should'nt even bother. I 100% do not believe UFC will let him wear Under Armour or Hayabusa or whatever else he has connections with. Its a vicious cycle

I could care less who is main and who is co main. Imnot gonna bitch about some BS like that. Who cares.

He's not wearing underarmour into the cage.

Also yes this is about money. It always is

Well this is most definitely, 100% what is hanging up the negotiations. Years ago before the release of the first UFC video game the UFC forced fighters to sign over their merchandising rights in perpetuity, among other things. In all those interviews where GSP talks about potential issues with his contract and that his contract is different than every other fighter, this is what he is referring to.

GSP has special clauses in place that likely conflict with the new Reebok deal that everyone else signed onto while he was gone. Don't be surprised if they let him do his own thing.

I'll bet you they do let him wear his own gear into the cage. That or he forces them to release him to due to non-performance of his contract.

His contract and merchandising works different than every other UFC fighter.

I watched the NBA game interview YouTube from another major MMA site, but didn't hear the quote shown in Sherdog's headline.

What I got was he's in speaking terms, not necessarily currently in discussions to come back.

GSP would make millions from companies lining up to sponsor him in his return.

Reebok would probably pay him a $100 bonus.

UFC might be in a pickle with this. Their contract with GSP was signed way before the UFC entered in a contract with Reebok. I can see how some clauses on both of these contracts violate the other. Otherwise there really wouldn't be anything to negotiate. Montreal media says not to expect any conclusion to these negotiations for months and it is highly doubtful even if these are successful that George would be back in the ring at UFC 200.
