Greta is speaking up for her future, I think she's entitled to that.
Thoughts? They just seem like pawns. MSNBC is interviewing a girl who has been an "activist" for two years now....she's 11.
Depends on what it's for.
It's certainly not new. It seems that the American right has been especially keen to rail against it for the same reason they rail against actors, musicians, or academics being political: because those groups rarely produce conservative voices.
But when they do...then you'll get a 13 year old speaking at CPAC:

Interesting speech none the less. He is very well spoken but ultimately says almost nothing at all, he will make a great politician some day. I loved that last statement of his, "Conserveratism is an ideology of protecting the people and the people's rights". I think the term he is looking for there liberalism.
Ugh, script did not include a tear or two.
Very interesting. He's obviously very intelligent. The problem with following anyone that age is they are parroting what they've been raised in or are currently being exposed to. It takes time to see if your beliefs hold up. You can read history relentlessly and still be skewed by the bias of the historian.Yeah, that's not an accurate summation of conservatism at all lol.
About two years after that speech, though, the kid publicly stated he was no longer a conservative and would vote for Obama. He was, of course, trashed by his former fans.
Regardless of sides, its a waste of time. Is there really no one more qualified to explain this stuff to leaders and media outlets? Like 99% of the scientific community not only would make the same points, but they have the expertise and the data to back it up. Stop asking 9 year olds for guidance on world changing issues and ask subject matter experts what the concensus of the data says.
The issue with your position is that despite decades of evidence being collected by the best and most experienced scientists on earth, and this data being presented again and again to world leaders, it's still ignored.
So the solution is a messenger that makes for a better photo op? The fact that our leaders are allowed to fly in the face of overwhelming data is akin to a crime against humanity, but I don't think doing a photo with the Baby Shark kids makes it more palatable. At best it's partonizing and condescending and at worst it trivializes an important issue.
