Social Greta Thunberg Megathread

It’s scientifically possible innit?

Sort of similar to synesthesia.
The thing is, she never said that, but people really only believe what they want to believe. No critical thinking or checking of facts at all.

If people need to constantly push a silly madeup pretend quote instead of criticizing what she has actually said, Then I guess they are making her point for her.

I've seen people calling her Pippi Mongstocking. It's pretty low to make fun of an exploited autistic kid like that but not gonna lie, it did make me lol.

She even taking a zero emission sailboat to the conference because she did not want to hear from the right wing that she is destroying the planet
She's obviously never heard of video conferencing.
Cheaper and quicker than taking an effing boat across the Atlantic.
It's all for show.

It's all for show.

It's obviously because actual visits attract way more attention, and her whole goal is to attract as much awareness for what she believes in as possible. The way you talk it would be a huge surprise that world leaders travel to other nations for meetings and speeches when it so simple to just use a phone.

Of course it's a show, because she obviously won't be able to say anything that the scientific community hasn't already said. As I said earlier in the thread, it's symptomatic of our societies that you need some form of celebrity to get things through because people don't just listen to the people that are the most educated and have the most experience. The same reason lots of Americans applauded when Trump made statements on the environment that showed that he doesn't even understand the difference between weather and climate.

I think understanding it's a real mental illness and that treating them terribly for their condition is the wrong thing to do was far enough. No men who dress like women should be abused for it, and teaching kindness in general covers that.

Where does this transformation come from? You are becoming more and more human in your posts. That you care about others is a good start to a nicer world to live in.

Please continue in the same spirit.

Who are the people you're talking about?
Whites! mainly

They generally don't like non whites, obviously. (Although they claim to respect and appreciate all races if they're separate, blah blah blah)

They don't like liberal whites, or left leaning whites. They don't like gay whites and especially transgender whites, they don't like whites that have mixed raced partners, they don't like whites with mixed race relatives, they don't like whites that have different race friends (this really pisses them off), they also don't like whites who are jews or have jewish relatives, they don't like whites who don't like racist white (like the guy that drove his car into a group of mainly white people in charlottesville), they also don't like whites who don't like white nationalism.

It leaves them with pretty narrow tent of people they actually like. So even if they did create a perfect ethnostate which didn't include all the whites they don't like, it's only a matter of time before they turn on their other fellow whites.

Yet someone they all congregate on white nationalist forums and are in disbelief about how their movement isn't growing. That's where the frustration sets in and they start turning to terrorism and shooting up synagogues, mosques and random mexicans.

It's indicative of the silliness that has descended upon Western culture where adults are seemingly looking to children to lead. It's this silliness that leads to the dangerous. Sweden even put out some propaganda photo where she's surrounded by politicians as though she's said something profound. I mean is this NK or what? Look at those crazy eyes.

This climate change nonsense is a sideshow. Sweden will be destroyed by Muslims long before any climate change.

Another example off the top of my head is some Robert Redford documentary about Chicago schools or something and he's shining a light on some 10 year old giving a speech. That kids probably in juvy now to be honest. I think it's on Netflix.
Looks like that weird doll from the 6th Day.

We have been called morally bankrupt.

<Lmaoo>

Greta Thunberg’s attackers are morally bankrupt, but her deification isn’t helpful

According to the Australian conservative climate-change denier Andrew Bolt, she is “deeply disturbed”, “freakishly influential” and “strange”. In a nasty, brutish and short tweet, the former Ukip funder, Arron Banks, simply said, “Freak yachting accidents do happen in August …” Controversialist columnist Brendan O’Neill wrote that there was “something chilling” about Thunberg, who “increasingly looks and sounds like a cult member”.

Did you see the examples I posted? Those kids get adored as soon as they have any conservative view point, they get invited on fox news etc.

Look at Soph. She's 14 years old and foul mouthed (I thought right wingers were the party of instilling values?) but she gets so much weird worship.

I think the main difference is leftists don't start panicking and massively harrassing teenagers because they have a different worldview. Some of the things being said about Thunberg are absolutely disgusting.
didnt some conservative girl get bullied to the point of going offline recently? was she making fun of AOC or something?

i cant remember the details, but im really certain that their are plenty of shitty people on both sides of the spectrum.

I don’t know who you are talking about.

The French philosopher Raphaël Enthoven hinted at another problem in a Delphic tweet in which he called her “an anti-product product” that we use to buy virtue with our support and retweets without actually having to do anything ourselves. Many of those who ostentatiously bid her bon voyage across the Atlantic are hardly strangers to airports. “When you consume Greta, you do not help the planet,” wrote Enthoven. “You play the game of the system that destroys it.”

Nail meet head.

I haven't changed one bit.

Yep. She was a YouTube video maker and 8 years old.

The death threats made her stop. Bc don’t you dare mock AOC.

I agree with most of what you stated but we don’t need someone like her.

Only 2% of Swedes don’t believe in climate change and the vast majority are worried about the changing climate.

I don’t attribute that to Greta and her pr-firm.

The fact that believing in it and actually bothering to make changes for it are two different things aside, the climate issue is by definition a global one and she has had international exposure so there's no need to limit the scope to Sweden.

I'm not someone that pays much attention to her, for the reasons I pointed out before, but I'm not bothered by her either. I'm not going to pretend that I know to what extent it's her drive or that of the parents that is behind this so I can't really say much about how she's used either.

Thoughts? They just seem like pawns. MSNBC is interviewing a girl who has been an "activist" for two years now....she's 11.

Edit: I just want to add that I don't mean this to be an attack thread. It just comes across as insanity watching the media and world leaders fawning over their "wisdom".

We had a thread on her. She’s literally a potato. Using her as the face of a movement is cruel.

It's all about mass psychology. Same reason celebrities are used to sell things, you need a 'hook' into an audience.

so yes, obviously a pawn with a large machine behind her who see her as useful. An intermediary, or conduit, between the machine and the populations.

But even if these mechanisms are used on the populations, it doesn't necessarily mean it's all bad or wrong, but manipulative for sure. Like, if there was some global movement for people to eat less junk food and celebrities and random children were used, I'd still generally agree with it.

Of course the machines behind people like this usually have their own motives.
